Question about Spacers
 

I really want to add 10-12mm spacers all around. I’m not a fan of the tucked wheels and any aftermarket wheel always has a nice aggressive offset to fill the fenders. My question, is there any reason why I wouldn’t be able to add spacers? I read a couple of posts of people not recommending spacers if you have launch control and use it. Just wondering why that would be an issue. Thanks for the insight guys.

Yes you can use spacers. Hub centric would be the best. What needs to be checked is the amount of lug nut threads that are going into the hub after installing a 10 or 12mm spacer. IIRC you need 17mm or more of the lug nut threaded into the hub.

Porsche offered 5 mm spacers as an option on the 991.1. They came with longer bolts to be sure the well was safely attached. I have them and like the wheel "filling out" the wheel well. I have no real idea if they have any other marginal effect on handling or wear.

Many Rennlisters have reported going for larger aftermarket spacers for looks. In theory going too big could cause undue stress on suspension parts.

But and the only negative reports I recall were more risk of road rash, tire rubbing if the car is lowered too much, shoddy quality on cheap aftermarket ones and getting mismatched bolts.

12mm up front might be a bit too much. i have 8mm front and 13mm rear on a S with SPASM

purely cosmetic, added weight and could seized over time. I would spend extra to get an aftermarket wheel set, looks much better IMHO

FWIW - Porsche uses 5mm spacers as OEM on a lot of 911's. This is beyond me as to why not just make a wheel with that spacing? I have 10mm up front and 15mm in the back. ECS tuning makes some nice spacers with the appropriate lug nuts and is hubcentric. A knit on some cheaper options is that there is a screw on ECS and others to hold the spacer and cheaper ones are kind of a pain in that you have to perfectly line up the lugs to install and the lugs hold everything together.

I have the OEM 5mm spacers. I haven't noticed any difference in the way the car handles/performs. I have noticed a lot of extra road rash/dirt on the sides of my car after placement.
