Default Heading out tomorrow morning for a CT scan...

Hey guys - multiple 997 / 987.2 / 981 / Macan owner here heading out tomorrow to scan a Carrera T that came in for sale. Won't last long. White on black, CT Interior package in red, buckets, rear axle steering etc... ticks a lot of boxes.

Question - how many of you are super happy with your CT? Enough joy to quit your searching for the ultimate P-car, the one car to to do it all? Enough joy to sell a 993 and a Spyder to get into? I know that there are multiple opinions to be had but I'm interested in them all. Anyone not satisfied and sold it for a GT3?

Thanks in advance for your insight!

There’s been quite a bit of chatter on the T. For those that have one, we would not go anywhere else. But, for others, there is quite a discussion.

#44 thread has a few folks that have come from GT3 to T.

Let’s not go there again.

But it was so enlightening! Awesome listing as always, BO!

Here are my thoughts thrown down just the other day...

I would walk this 5 month path again in a heart beat. Best of luck with your procedure!

While they look similar sort of, a 993 and a 991 are worlds apart. Go for a drive and see what you think. Skipped the T and went GT3T but no way I would part with my 993 C4 cab.

Get a T but dont sell your 993. I had a '98 C4S and should never have sold it. Having said this the T is a much better car overall, the 993 represents a great era for the 911.

Wow! That's a very tough duo to beat. An aircooled intimate & analog 911 and a drop top mid engine lighweight Boxster Spyder. Good luck with dat! If you have the garage space, only add to the fleet. Don't pare down. Then, in a year or so, if you must, sell the one being driven the least. The only way I see you making the change, is if you must have the newest tech, the upgraded interior, and the larger cabin. Good luck, you're gonna need it.

Default T

I would do a T because it is a 6 speed and keep the 993. Then flash it to get the HP to the correct level. if I were selling 2 cars outright I would go for gt3t. apparently 40% of all porsches sold now are gt cars so the rarity previously had with gt3's has diminished.

I test drove a Carrera T and it is an excellent car. I let go of a 993 and have no regrets. I wouldn't sell my Boxster Spyder though. Its really the ultimate top down Porsche. There's nothing like it as you know.

The Carrera T is very desirable but I would not discount the 991.2 GTS. Wide hips(like your C4S) and 450hp with everything you can option on a CT except the seats. Sexy. A little pricier than the CT but worth it.

I sold my 993 for the Carrera T. See my review (#54 above) for comparisons. I loved my 17 years with the 993 and made some great memories. Looking forward to the same with the Carrera T!

cheers!

Loving my Carrera T so far. I’ve owned many air cooled and turbo P cars but this one drives and feels extra special. Happy with my decision.

PS. White is the lightest color :-)

Short of a GT3, the Carrera T is my favorite iteration of the 991.

The T is a blast. I drove one and had my order placed a couple weeks later. Car is awesome and the tuning possibilities sweeten the deal. Whether I actually tune it is TBD.

Thanks everyone for all your comments and to BlackOptic for the EXTENSIVE list of CT posts. Impressive! Truly helpful and I'm loaded for bear now when I check out the CT.

It's good to hear of you that owned 993's and sold them and regretted, or not, the move. It's a great older car but is taking a bit too much of my time now to keep going, insured etc... but so refreshingly old-school analog to drive. And the Gen-1 Spyder? This is my second one! So I think it's going to be a tough decision.

And to keep them all? Budget wise, time-wise, wife-wise etc... just not in the cards. And to be honest, until I retire and have enough time and be looking for things to do, I'm a bit done on the multiple car thing. Dropping into a CT as my single P-car, and keep the Golf as by DD and my wife's E60 would great SIMPLIFY my life. It's been a fun ride but...

I'll keep y'all posted!

Please post your thoughts after today’s CT scan. While it’s no 993, the Carrera T is a great modern tech 911 and does a great job of bringing back that older analog feel. I use that word all the time when describing the T to friends.
