Default Integrated laser jammer/radar detection

Hi guys,

I’ve read several threads by the folks at musicar and really enjoyed their beautifully integrated laser/radar systems for the 991.

My question is this. Is there any alternatives in the US (particularly on the West Coast) besides Musicar for a nicely integrated radar detection/laser jamming system? The folks at musicar clearly do fantastic work and I’ll be chatting with them soon, but I’m wondering if the collective RL 991 group can recommend any other alternative shops that also do good work so I have some options?

For reference, here is a thread from last year of an integrated radar/laser install by the musicar shop in Portland.

Stinger has its issues, and you are certainly not getting the best for the big price tag.

What is your experience with Stinger? Alternative product?

I used and several friends have used Rocco’s Auto Tech in Costa Mesa. Small shop. Owner does all the work and does a great job. It won’t be Musicar customization but you also won’t pay Musicar prices. I did the ALP laser/radar and couldn’t be happier.

i also have a friend that used a place in La Jolla. He spent a ton on his Stinger system. In his new car he is not going with Stinger again. He did not think it was all that impressive.

In my opinion, ALP is the best laser detection system out there - plenty of updates to keep up to date with newer laser guns. As far as Radar Detectors go, Uniden R3 is excellent, and Net Radar has nice detectors too, including ones that go behind the bumper so that is it hidden from sight. I have not used Stinger, and actually wanted to buy one until I read some of the reviews, and I was not ready to spend thousands for something that was not that reliable. Don't take my word for it though, check out Vortex Radar on YouTube - very knowledgeable and he does a lot of testing.

Thank you very much for the shop recommendation in Socal!!!

To everyone else, I'm not so much asking for recommendations on specific brands of radar as much as I am asking about good west coast shops that do good installations of integrated laser/radar installation (i.e. detectors on front and rear bumper, with a laser jammer kill button and radar/laser display inside the cabin)

Thanks to all for their recs so far. Please keep them coming.

Anti-Laser Priority is the best laser system. I just recently had mine tested against a new dragoneye and was 100% JTG & JFG

here’s a link to my install: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-turb...per-clean.html

Can you find out the name of the place in La Jolla? Was he happy with the install? That is a few exits south of me...

Default La Jolla shop

The shop you all are looking for is called La Jolla Audio (although it’s really not in La Jolla). I had them install an escort detector in my GT4. Extremely clean install. Great guys to work with. I’ll be going back to them again later this month when I take delivery of a 2019 991.2 TTS.
