Skipping the 997 and right to the 991 is a good idea. 996 and 997 are pretty similar. Enjoyed reading the 996 forum and the posts. Maybe you can add a bit of more fun here.

Cheers.
Agree. Initially my plan was to get a 997.2, but after a ton of research, decided there was no option but a 991.1 S. Loved my 996, but this car is light years ahead! The folks on this forum really helped with the decision.

Yeah, the 991 forum could use a good humor injection!

In other news, this morning I got a call from the shipper. He was in an accident this morning on the way here. My car was fine. Lotus got nailed pretty good in lower rear.

Meh. It was just a Lotus!

I'm surprised the driver sent you a pic of the damage. Hopefully, delivery of your car is iminent.

I took the pic when he dropped off my car. He delivered my car yesterday. It's unscathed. He showed me pix of the accident. He was at a truck stop and a car smashed into him, at the back corner of the trailer.

Subscribed for updates! How is the car? Considering that 2 of the cars I made offers on are on this thread (Cuda911's and Tampa991's) I'm excited to hear how they're working out!!!

I literally was ready to send a deposit on the one that Cuda911 bought when I found a white one that I liked slightly better in terms of options and it was a lot closer to me than Pennsylvania. Haven't picked it up yet but flying to Seattle tomorrow and will pick it up there on the 1st then do a road trip home to the SF Bay Area.

But man, the blues just look sooo good! Almost every car I've owned recently has been blue -- Lotus Elise, Audi Q5, Audi S4. I really like blue cars but maybe it's time for a change as well.

@Cuda911 is the car exactly at the dealer described? Hopefully no surprises.

Hey VincenzO, thanks for the referral..... Love the car!

The dealer described the car well. Two minor "surprises":

1) I mistakenly thought it had 14-way seats (as was stated in the dealer's advertisement). They are "Sport Seats Plus." What the heck does that mean? What's the "plus"? Anyway, the seat slider is manual. I don't really care at all, but pretty surprising to have any sort of manual seat adjustment on a 120K car.

2) The second issue is that the very tops of the interior door panels are slightly warped, making a small gap. This is a known issue with this generation of car. Identical issue with our Cayman. The dealer replaced both door skins on our Cayman. I'm going to see if he will do that with the 991. If not, a pretty minor issue.

The car is really low. I'm learning to be super careful at every driveway, speed bump, etc. The front spoiler lip slightly scrapes when leaving my driveway. I guess I should stock up on a big supply of replacement lips.

Glad it worked out well!! I too was concerned about the sport pasm suspension being too low because I have a steep driveway as well. But at least the front lip is replacablre and cheap, good design thinking on Porsches part!

Sport Seats Plus are basically the 18 way seats without all of the power. And they will replace the warped door panels...many threads about them here.

Thanks! I called the local Porsche dealer and am bringing in the car next week. The service manager thinks that Porsche will replace them. I will be thrilled if they do!!

I'm cool without having the 57 ***** that come on the 18-way seats. The only feature I would have liked is that the powered ones automatically slide back when the car is shut off. Helps minimize bolster wear. Other than that, pretty insignificant to me.

Then you will be glad to hear the seat only slides back about an inch...I started a thread the other day asking if I had a problem since they only go back a little, unlike the ones in my wife's SUV that go WAAAAAAY back.

Midnight blue is a great color and 991.1S is a great all around car. Yes, very low and you will learn to watch and listen for the scraping sound.
The replacement lips are easily available. Enjoy the car.

The first thing I ordered for the car was a new lip...took 1 minute to swap them.

Went out to mail a package, and then four hours driving the back-country twisties to get home. Awesome. Amazing. Couldn't be happier.
