20" wheels on base Carrera
I am considering buying a 2017 Carrera from a Porsche dealer, CPO, with low mileage and almost all the options I would like. It was delivered new with optional 20" S wheels. I asked whether the suspension would have been altered in any way because of the change in wheels. The salesman didn't seem to know, except to assure me that if any modification were needed it would have been done. If no modification, wouldn't the ride be raised by 1/2"? This might be good, for getting up my driveway, but not ideal in other ways ...Or do the larger wheels come with lower profile tires, and does that compensate for the difference in wheel diameter? Can anyone tell me what the standard procedure is when getting the larger wheels? Also, the price the dealer wants is about what KBB says is market for the car as a CPO from the dealer, but are 991.2 prices likely to some down substantially this spring as the 992 ships? I haven't seen the 992 in person, but am a little bit on the fence as to the new body, particularly from the rear ...

There are no changes made to anything on a 991 due to 19- or 20-inch wheels—you can run either wheel at will.
There is also no change in the ride height due to the wheel size, as the wheel diameter is accounted for with a smaller sidewall on the 20-inch tires. If there is a change, it's infinitesimal.

No modification required to make them fit.
I have 19s, I'm switching 20s. Will not need to modify suspension for them to work.

As others have said, no change in the actual overall tire diameter. The aspect ratio on the tire changes to set basically the same overall diameter. For example the rear 19” wheel is a 295-35-19 whereas the rear 20” wheel is a 305-30-20. This also keeps the speedometer reading in check.

The 19/20s are within 3mm diamter of the 20/21s, they fill the wheel arches out just the same as the rubber bands.

20inch look and drive great. I have them on my C2S CAB, but watch out for pot holes. They are far more risky with 20 inch rims . . . . and costly
