I passed on a Porsche Targa because it had a rear wiper. Hideous on that model.

Who looks in the rear view anyways? I'm passing them - they're not catching up.....lol

Mine came with it. I barely use it (I have it set to come on automatically if the wipers are on and I use reverse). I actually like the way it looks though.

I actually vacillated over getting the rear wiper. Although it is a bit cleaner to not have it, I think it looks pretty cool. And there is some Porsche history bundled in with the rear wiper which is kind of cool. And my car will absolutely be driven on rainy days as long as we're not talking serious storms with strong winds and flooding.

But I did a bunch of online research, here and elsewhere, to try to understand how useful the rear wiper really is on a 991.2. Ultimately, the overwhelming consensus, from people who've actually driven late model 911s with rear wipers, is that it's just not necessary unless driving in snow, which I don't plan to do. Especially if one has the rear camera.

So for me, it's would be just another part that can break and has to be maintained and I opted to skip it.

Yes, I removed the wiper and the motor. The glass plug comes in a kit from "KILL ALL WIPERS". That is the brand name of the kit. It comes with the black sealant. Takes 5 mins to install. Let dry overnight, and shave off excess black sealant on top.

It looks like a fine circle, as it almost completely disappears.

Back to the spirit of my posting this thread ... anyone else want to share pics of their cars proudly showing rear wipers?

I also passed on a dealer inventory Targa 4 GTS because of the rear wiper. I preferred to wait for an allocation and wait for production rather than have one of those hideous things on the back of my new beautiful Targa 4GTS.

Congrats on the new 991, she's a beauty! Rear wiper is a must if you daily drive, I've found it to be an essential safety option, Looks damn cool too!

Best, Tom

No need to disparage anyone. Rear wipers not for me, but YMMV.
