Get in line and prepare to wait since it is a part time hobby that he and his daughter do, but the wait appears to be well worth it. If you look around online you will find some amazing examples of the work he has done, and not just Porsche crests. And it takes time for him to get back to you so have patience while waiting for his reply.

Sorry, I don’t have pictures. I used a Dremel tool to grind channels in the pins so the custom crest could sit further down in the indentation but couldn’t grind deep enough. I ended up throwing it in the trash. The indentation may vary depending on model, mine is a 991.2.

Anyone else tried to install on a 991.2? Would love to know if this is a systemic defect of one-off fitment issue.

Jim told me he uses original crests so I do not see why it would not fit properly since the pins would line up. I know that does not explain why 4pipes had problems but I know that several 991 owners here have installed them without issues. Try searching the forums as he has been refinishing them for years and the topic comes up every so often. If you want to see some of his work there is a thread on 6speedonline with lots of pics.

Perhaps he sent 4pipes a 2012-2013 crest.

Ok, here's a cautionary tale:
About two months ago, I got one of these hood crests, and it looked great (still does), and I even posted a detailed thread on how to install it: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1106...ood-crest.html
Now, a few weeks ago, I drove to my office, and while looking at the crest, it seemed to be a little bit crooked, so I thought that maybe the nuts may have come loose. When I moved it, I was surprised to see that the posts had been detached, and the crest was simply resting on the hood's indentation! I lifted the crest and the posts were still attached to the hood.
I had to unscrew the nuts from the posts and remove the posts from the hood. Had I been driving a little faster, the crest could have flown out, or just fallen of while braking.
After that, I decided to re-attach the crest using 3M double-sided tape.
So, my recommendation is: even if you use the posts, play it safe and use some double-sided tape!!!
And here's my crest:

If you notice, the crest is sitting biased toward the top of this hood. Mine was only 20 or 30 thousands higher such that the sharp bottom of the crest interfered with the radius of the indentation. I don’t need any paper weights at my age!

If that tiny imperfection is the only thing I will have to deal with, as well as a tiny piece of 3M tape, count me in; I cannot wait for my set to arrive!

No doubt this guy does very nice work. But what surprises me, is his company name? Wasn't he the same guy a year or so ago called something like "Porsche crests"? Now he's "Carrera crests". Porsche is very protective of their IP. Sounds like thin ice.

I have bought several crests from Jim. I have a 991.1 as well as a MACAN. I had the posts come off like Alex said. Contacted Jim and he said he uses 3m tape on his own crests and for me to do the same. I did and it is very secure and doesn’t even move with added benefit of sitting closer.
Cant wait to see yours Bob!
