Under tray damage.......
While I was doing a little DIY oil change tonight I noticed some damage to the rear under tray.
I ran over an unknown item about a month ago in a construction zone. When I pulled over to see if I had anything hanging off the car and look for damage I didn't see even a scratch ......... then I totally forgot about it until tonight.
I could get my finger up in the opening and could not feel any sharp edges and could not see any damage above the tray even with a flashlight so I think I was really lucky,
This damage is right in front of what looks like a rear brake duct on the drivers side.
Does anyone know what's above the tray is in this location?

Just to close this out:
Had the dealer look at the under tray damage when the car was in for some other issues.
Got word there was no further damage behind the tray. A few inches over and it could have gotten into the PDCC distribution system.
Got lucky. New under tray is $350 so I'm going to creatively repair it so nothing else gets up into that area.

You could make a claim on your auto insurance for Comp Coverage, since you most likely hit a moving object on the roadway? Would not effect your premium, and probably have a low comp deductible. Either way, you got off pretty easy. Good for you.
