Your killin' me smalls!!

I emailed Mike at Ultimate w/ a couple of questions.
What color are the cupholders? It's hard to tell in the pic. They look like a dark silver??
It asks what color foam I want? Where is the foam located? What color did you guys get?

Try this to save a few bucks: http://www.ultimatecupholders.com/order-discount.html

He was updating his web site so if you do not see 991 just select 996 since they are the same.

They are stainless steel color on the outside (metal of course) and the foam is on the inside to cushion your cup so it does not rattle. I have Black interior and it works well but it is so far out of the way you will not notice it much so don't worry about it not fitting in. It is really close to all of the silver trim in the car so it will go with any interior color.

The real Ultimate holders work great. I reach over to the passenger side. for the driver side its out of the way also, as the right foot is always stretched to the pedal. Unless you get a Starbucks Venti size coffee - it may then hit your calf. Grande is fine first world problems indeed.
The OP's wood one is good as it an be used for fire if stranded. or fashioned into a shiv one has to pass through metal detectors. still very clever.

Maybe not cheap $ wise, but the cheapest looking cup holder sure looks like the new 992.

I researched around and couldn’t locate any. I’ll look again at the ultimate. It just looks that on the drivers side it’s not easy to get to next to the right leg.

I may look for some better plastic ones that form better and add some foam on the inside of the hook. That will really **** someone off😎😎😎.
Good for you for both the original post and for taking the Rennlister grief with good spirits.*

I have Ultimates on both sides of the console. When alone, I use the one on the passenger side. When the passenger needs that one, I use the drivers side. Unless I use my tallest coffee mug, I cannot feel it with my leg.

*If you had posted your design on April 1, I might have taken it another way.

I think I might be the only one on here, though, that actually likes the current cupholders! Sure, they are overly complex but they work for me.

They may work well but seeing a cup in my field of vision is not good.

Installed a passenger side Ultimate Cupholder this past weekend. Although "installed" is probably being overly self-congratulatory given how all that's required is to tuck the top part of the cup holder inside the center console trim. Works great w/a 20oz Contigo travel mug.

Well... works great except that if you put really hot coffee into that particular travel mug, it's going to stay really hot for a long time. If you plan to actually drink the coffee while driving, I suggest letting it sit and cool for five minutes before putting the Contigo's top on and leaving. Otherwise you might burn your lip or mouth. Ask me how I know.

I used to use this in the 993 - been meaning to pick one up to see if it would work somewhere. What I like is that it folds and hides when not in use. Very secure as well (even with a Venti!)

VW Part 3A1 862 531 01C

cheers!
