Default Price check on a 2014 C4S

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first poster... I hope this isn't an inappropriate question, but I've been searching around for a CPO C4S, and I found a loaded one in a dealer around San Francisco, which across the country from me. The problem is the carfax shows "rear damage" right around the time the dealer acquired the car.

This would be my first Porsche... I haven't really negotiated with the dealer or asked for details yet, since I'm trying to get a feel for if they're factoring in the damage in the price of the car. In looking around for a month, I've found that pricing varies significantly on these things. Anyways details are:

I'm actively searching for that same car in Agate Gray or Black, so I can confirm that is a very fair price for the car's age, options and miles - maybe $4k - $6k below what I would expect. The accident or damage adds another variable that is hard to quantify. Personally, I don't want a car with a CarFax blemish like that because of how difficult it can be to sell this car 2 - 5 years down the road. There are some people that don't care about paint or body work in a resale, but I think those people are in the minority. The previous owner's "story" has now become your story. And, some will say that it depends on the actual "damage", but that's where you have to trust people to tell you the truth about what kind of repairs were actually made. It's a tough choice - especially with a car so nicely optioned.

So to answer your question... Yes. I think that's a very fair price for that particular car as long as you can live with the damage repair.

Agree. Looking for C4S manual and its rare they are under 80k. If CPO'd that's a good thing but I would still have it inspected personally.

What jazzman said. Seems like a good price to me if not on the low side. I believe there are rules for CPO with regard to repairs done. But you'd need to ask the dealer.

I guess I'll reach out and see if I can get a PPI done remotely. Thanks for the feedback.

Try contacting Rennlister inspectX for a mobile PPI.

There's one in Boston but it's not as nicely equipped. https://chambers.porschedealer.com/c...38b3832548.htm

My wife's not allowing me to get a manual...

Before spending any money try to get a run down on how extensive the repair was and ask if they have any pictures of the damage and then go from there.

If all seems positive...... fly out and look at the car yourself.

Apparently the same problem I had trying to find C4S (very scarce), ended up ordering new.

Avoid the issues others have had w/ unscrupulous sellers (you can find some of those experiences posted on the forum).

If you live away from the dealer, they'll never have to deal with any concerns as you won't be bringing the car back to them.

Hate to be cynical but due diligence saves you. I'd fly out and meet whomever you hire to do the inspection as it's done. Ask for the prior service/repair records before spending any money as others have suggested. If they balk at providing them it would be concerning.

Yeah I found one nearby, almost as nicely equipped as the one above. Test drove and loved it... wife told me to sleep on it. It sold the next morning... I'll reach out to the dealer and see if they've got records/photos of the damage/repairs.

There's a joke in here somewhere.

Hah hah Anyways, after thinking about it some more, I'm going to pass on the car. This instance exceeds my tolerance for "pain" to get it from across the country. If anyone's interested still, it's at Carlsen Porsche as of this posting.

I never imagined a C4S in manual was so difficult to find or that I had a "rare" car

Surprised to see how much they are selling for. First Porsche I ever owned that has not dropped like a stone in value after a couple of years
