Nicely done. I plan to do the same with my 2017 911 gts

Not going to argue on the internet about the car's capabilities in the proper hands, but will note a certain IMSA GTD champion chasing me in the white 997.2 GT3 who admitted to not being able to catch me. Hopefully you guys all have the chance to use your non GT cars on track, and get to experience what a rocket the 991.2 Carrera is in base trim

I have had mine on track twice already. Very capable! Just finished the break in period so now it's time to really see what this car can do! Fantastic so far!!!

Just to recap a few of my observations since my post somehow got deleted:
* The car has about the same performance window as a 997.2 GT3 if equipped with PDK.
* Standard issue Yokohama Advans were awesome. Drop 5 PSI all the way around in the morning and you wont have to worry about adjusting them for the rest of the day.
* Brakes were far better than I had assumed. Coming from a GT4 / 718 Cayman S, there is definitely a bit less performance, but not as bad as I'd expected.
* I had a compact electric leaf blower I used when back in the pits on each front corner for 30 seconds to move some heat after about two cool down laps. Found this to be helpful, but expect some weird looks.
* The torque was immense. The car never blew sound while flying past the sound check station while under wide open throttle. Made the experience far more enjoyable.
* Brake fluid swap recommended, but not necessary depending on frequency of track usage.
I am pretty hard on machinery and would say I ran 9/10ths the whole day, bone stock off the showroom floor. About 65 laps total.
Very impressed.

Nice, glad you are taking it out.
I took mine out once, did well but was still stock. Next time should be better, added new GiroDisc 350mm rotors front and rear (note, GiroDisc now have new rotors for specifically for the base model), braided lines and SRF fluid, and new alignment. Already running with DSC box

Also, what kind of difference do you feel in the pedal with the new fluid and braided lines? Did you reuse the OEM pads?

My car is running 20" Spyder wheels, so I had the OEM 245/305 Pirelli N1 tires...Ran them around 32 hot front, 34 hot rear. Car had awesome grip, and they actually wore surprisingly well. 13xx track miles and 77xx street miles, and they still have 6/32s to them. Shoulders a little worse for wear, but I think I can get a few more sessions out of them in Spring 2019.
The torque + PDK makes this car incredibly fast, IMO. Makes my 6MT 981 CGTS feel sluggish, especially at corner exit.
Still prefer driving the Cayman overall tho

Great observations. Agree with basically everything you said, using my Cayman GTS as my own reference point.

As a Cayman guy myself, I have to say that driving a 911 on track is quite a unique experience. This was actually my first track day in a 911, aside from the 997.2 Cup I tested last year at thermal.

Very shocked at how well the Advans wore. After 7,800 miles ad 65 laps, they still look like they have over 50% tread left. Like you said, the shoulders look a little worn but that's expected.

Now that I've tracked the 911, I don't know how I'll be able to go to another platform for track use. Doing the whole "flooring it after the apex" routine in the 911 is just too addictive. Nothing feels quite like it.
