Default Anyone else going to hold on to their 991 longer than usual . . .

. . . after seeing the abomination that is the 992? 996 fans have to be giddy after seeing this monstrosity.

I have a pretty limited attention span. I got rid of my 997 as soon as the 991s were released, and have since purchased another 991. Last week I got rid of my 2017 S3 to buy an identical 2018 S3 in a different color. I like new things and am quick to buy the latest gadgets and technology. I held off getting a 991.2 in anticipation of the 992, but after seeing it, Jesus, it's atrocious. From the plastic rear end to the interior "shelf" to the gear shifting "nub" to the big gulp holder . . . this car is an absolute disaster.

I think the 991.1s especially will hold their value and start to appreciate in a few years like the 964s and 993s.

I'll keep my 991.1 S as long as it's trouble--free. I don't want turbo, must have a MT and I need the back seat, so there is literally nothing I could upgrade to aside from maybe a 991.1 GTS, but it's not enough of a difference that I'd want to go through the hassle.

After finding my way into my '17 991.2 base, after having two 997.2's, I've vowed to keep this one. It's a manual too, and spec'd how I'd want one. This might be the newest 911 I ever own. If I want to get an electric Porsche in the future, I'd probably get a Taycan instead.

Not if you keep driving it.

And if you don't, why bother holding on to it?

I on my 5th year and 60,000 Miles and there is nothing under 100k that I would rather own at this time.

I have a 7MT, C2S with PDCC SC etc. I also did a fair amount of suspension modifications with a DSC V2, Damptronics, Elephant Racing Camber Plates and a few other transmission things like the FF mounts and Numeric Racing shifter. The car is just about perfect.

In your opinion, driving 5000 miles per year with respect to depreciation is that considered a lot?

I'm planning to keep my 991.1 Targa 4S, it's a manual also with low miles. But then again, I say this about most of the Porsches I've owned... yet this one is different....

I'm planning on keeping my 991.1 GTS for a long time. I usually trade frequently, but no plans to give up my GTS.

+1 ^^^

Sorry OP, but I can't help but observe out loud how funny it is that every time there is a model revision or evolution of our beloved 911 there is a cry of "abomination" or "terrible" and the "purists" will never accept it -- then the new model comes out and the crowds just flock to it anyways. Have you taken a look at the sales numbers and profit this company is booking lately? Who cares what you like! Hahaha. Water cooled? Turbo? PDK? An SUV? A friggin' PDK GT3 with engines that go up in flames???? Oh, how horrible.... LOL Fact is, Porsche makes some incredible cars, and they will always have a following. Sure, there are flaws and even disasters.... yet even those cars that we might pick-on for this or that have unique qualities that any "true" Porsche fan can love.

+1 agree with this. People who start threads like this seem to have lost all sense of perspective and history and think this is a unique moment or something. No its not. Porsche will continue to sell 911s like always. 997 owners bashed the 991 for being too big and GT like and no longer a true 'sports car' ..

I wouldn't be interested in a base or S, so it would probably be a while before there's even a 992 I'm even interested in (GTS/GT3/TTS). I'll withhold judgment until I see it in person, but I'm sure like all 911 variations (except the 996), I'll get used to and appreciate the looks eventually and be looking to upgrade. In the mean time I'll be enjoying my 991.2 GTS and GT3 for a couple of more years.

My 991.1 C4S is my 1st and probably my last Porsche so I'm going to keep it until it's not logical to fix.

Having had two job changes in the last 4 years if an when another car is in my future I'm going to get something a bit more inline with my new financial outlook.

BTW I love this thing..... The only other cars I've fallen for were the 08 Audi RS4 and the 00 Audi S4... both long term high mileage keepers..... and anything VW Scirocco related.
