Anyone else going to hold on to their 991 longer than usual . . .

I just recently got back into a Porsche. A 2015 C4S (PDK) CPO car...I have been bouncing around different manufacturers for the last three years (GTR, Hellcat, RCF, ZL1, etc..) and there is nothing more complete TO ME than a C4S. And I especially love the N/A engine in the 991.1.
So all of that said to say I plan to keep this one as long as I can (CPO until 2021). Also I lease a Range Rover as my daily and think I will continue to lease my daily drivers so every couple of years I get a new car...thinking about a Macan when this lease is up...but keeping my C4S!!!

I always lease . My new 991.2 is the first car I ever bought. I intend to drive it into the ground as a DD, but with love and care. Let’s see how I feel after 10 years and high mileage.

I think the 992 will look fine on the roads, despite that clunky and uncharacteristically non-timeless, haphazard front hood-shutline and bumper. But the fact that outside of (hopefully) GT cars it still being turbo, I plan to keep my 991.1 as I feel it's now a modern classic in its right. Even bought a 6 year Fidelity warranty. Just not ready to give up an N/A Carrera. In ways, I'm happy the 992 is a turbo, as it saves me from feeling that itch to $wap.

We all have to remember that we drive *THE* quintessentially timeless cars. I always like to tap into my inner child when it comes to 911's: I always wanted one, most of all because it's the one car (outside of I guess a G Wagon... hideous as it is) that protects its design, resale value and current owners, by keeping changes extremely respectful, incremental, and non noticeable to the general public. They treat is as a sacred work of art, over an appliance, and that's what draws me to it. So yes, as owners, we get caught up in the "rat race" but it's good to get grounded, and remember that one of the privileges in driving a 911 is that you have the one car treated like an instant classic, that isn't part of the "rat race" and gets better as it ages. Don't believe me? Look at every previous generation 911 (but the 996.... yet) going up in value, and whose "oldness" becomes valued as "vaunted and sought after character that you can't find anymore."

I have .1GTS. First Porsche. Also have a .2GT3.
Have zero desire to sell/trade either. Each car puts a smile on my face. There’s only two more 911s I want to add to the garage and I’m done. 997.2 GT3RS and a 911R and I am done done.
Assuming partner doesnt leave leave me first....

the gt3, is a visceral monster. it is the devil on the other shoulder. it does not want to cruise anything below 5k....it screams to push push push harder and faster.
both cars are fast enough for any street, but the gt3 is race car for the street. I know some daily a gt3, but I for one can not. besides all the attention it gathers and even with the comfortable dampers, it is still a loud and harsh ride. again, "race car."

Ah for a minute especially after seeing today's great unveil. Alienated me on a few things...interior, shifter, vents, rear end, front end, crease, rear lights....not sure what they were thinking and I've have 911's since the 996! Yeah maybe a 991.2 but no further for me...this may be my last 911 like a few others vs drive what they just released. But to each their own!

Like neurotic, I will be keeping my 991.1 PDK GTS cab and 991.2 GT3T until the wheels fall off or until I die, whichever comes first. Long live the NA straight six - just kidding!- flat six engine. Long live the days of no nubbins, no Big Gulp cupholders, and the days of analog. It is funny that some on other threads say that the 992 "haters" are "hating" because we are 991.2 owners and thus want to hate because ours is no longer the latest and the greatest. What a joke. I am ordering a 991.2 GT3T in no small part because it is NOT a bloated, nubbin-bearing, Big Gulp drinking, kinda sorta digital/kinda sorta analog "latest and greatest" 992. After all, the newest 911 is always the greatest, right?! It depends on whom you ask, I suppose.

I just bought a 3 year VSC for my '13 C2S. I rarely keep cars more than 3-4 years, but in this case my car was optioned so well and with prices the way they are, I'll hold onto it for a total of 5 years at least.
