P.S. These things are far better today then they were when they first came out.

Some are better than others - on my old Bimmer I went from Pirelli to Michelin (both R flats) and it was a drastic improvement.

Dunlap does make runflats in max performance. The sideway stiffness is partly due to runflat and partly because its a dunlop.... They are bad tires. Your SL probably has Conti or Mich which are much better and not max performance summer tires either.

It's a moot point. There no such thing as a run-flat tire in 295/30/20 or 305/30/20. And if these's no rear tires in that size, there will never be a matching front tire in the prope size.

Have YOU driven your SL with the current run-flats, tested them on the highway, ran a few AutoXs, did some high speed DEs, then come into the garage; changed out the run-flats, and put on a set non-run-flats, tested them on the highway, ran a few AutoXs, did some high speed DEs, all in similiar weather conditions?

If you didn't, how would you know otherwise?

That's because MB tunes the suspension for a softer ride because the sidewalls are so stiff on the run flats. If you put standard tires on your MB the ride would be too soft.

When I thought I was getting a c43 I followed the mb c43 forum for almost a year. The consensus there was run flats were crap and almost everyone changed them to non runflats. RF tires are heavy noisy and expensive. Most shops won’t repair them if punctured and they are definitely ruined if you actually run with them flat. Note also you can’t drive at speed if they are flat and the run flat distance is limited.

A much better idea is to invest in a towing insurence policy

I have to admit I liked the Gtr better with Runflats. I love the Humvee on Runflats but would never consider Runflats on a 911

There are those who believe in them, and those that don't.
From my experience on my X5, 275/20 front, 315/20 back.
They were twice as expensive as a conti, and 7and8 pounds heavier per corner.
Really? A flat tire is a flat tire. 50 miles of travel distance? 50 miles to where.
The Esso does not carry a 20" tire? I'm still screwed.

Also consider that stiffer sidewalls lead to bent rims. Ask me how I know

Don't misunderstand me, RFs do have their downside, but if they were available for the 911, I'd absolutely get them, no question about it.

>>If you're the kind of guy who enjoys wearing a condom during sex - then by all means get runflats for your Porsche.<<

This must have taken a lot of thought and energy. Gotta’ love RL.
