Default Auto/Start stop button

On my 2016 GTS once you pushed off the auto start/stop button it stayed off forever. It seems like in the 2018 you have to push it off every time you get in the car. Or am I doing something wrong. I would love to permanently disable it. Thanks

There is no default S/S off for a 2018 GTS, or likely any 2018. You either have to turn it off each time via the button on the console, or via programming it off on the "I" setting on the mode ****. Either way it takes an action on your part.

Score 1 for the benefits of the .1 !! We don't need no stinking turbos or engine stop start!

Just put the car in "Sport" mode and the s/s is disabled. I thought everyone automatically did this anyway - no?

You're correct. It's not hard. I find that I often forget which is only an issue when I'm running errands, getting in and out of the car a lot. Then, having to hit the button becomes a hassle. Most of the time, I just try to enjoy this wonderful car.

This thread pushed me over the edge. I've ordered the module. In my opinion A/S/S should be of voluntary use. I consider it a safety issue. For Christ's sake, the engine will sometimes stall when coasting to a stop. Don't we all remember when an engine that stalls unexpectedly was a safety issue? This feature cheapens the experience in this otherwise wonderful car. I like all the drive modes, even normal mode with the reduced noise which I like for the highway. "Push to pass" is always available with the Sport Response button.

It is supposed to go into neutral and coast when you lift off the gas. It definitely should not shut down the engine. The engine only shuts down at a complete stop. Anything else means there is a malfunction.

Under certain conditions, the engine will stop before the car stops moving. This will happen in stop and go traffic sometimes. I believe the owners manual mentions this.
I don't like it regardless of the reasons it exists. I'll be happy to install the module that eliminates this. I DO like the coast feature for the highway and the only way to have this is to engage A/S/S in normal mode but I'm fine with doing this manually.

It's an EPA incentive for carmakers to make you leave it engaged every time you start the car. If Porsche's default is to have it engaged at every start of the engine, the EPA bases its test on it being used. If Porsche makes it defeatable, then the car is tested without the start/stop and then the two numbers are averaged, giving the car a lower mileage rating.

+1

I almost got into an accident when going into a "roundabout" when the engine shut down for a very short period.

It can't be good for the engine either.
