Plug n play door speakers for standard audio?
Gonna take the door cards off to change my door pulls. Black-> GT silver. While Im in there, are there any speakers that you folks know that I can drop in to upgrade my system . i.e. bose door speakers or burmester? They sell these individually at suncoast. Also if @12v Nick has any suggestions from musicar please let us know.
Thanks
Thanks

I have the entire set of Bose speakers from my doors and tweeters I would sell to anyone that wants them. Should be plug and play because they were unplugged but I can ask installer for anyone interested..

I would doubt that replacing base speakers with Bose or Burmester would prove beneficial as those speakers are likely proprietary to their respective tuners however, there’s likely aftermarket options that might offer some improvement.

No aftermarket speakers are plug and play as the Porsche has proprietary connectors. The tuners on all of the cars are the same (head units). The speakers and amps change. If you just change the speakers there would be improvement as Nicks Tweeter upgrade has proven. While the Bose are not in the same league as Nicks tweeters, they are also 1/10 the price and a big step up from the base speakers which are absolutely junk..

If you can guarantee the door speakers are straight up plug n play i would consider buying them. How much do u want?

The suncoast website says all the systems have proprietary connections and not upgradable. I read through some of the complex audiophile threads that state only a few are direct swap but i dont have the patience to dig this onfo out. However ill b the first to admit i dont know my *** from my elbow when it comes to this stuff. I can unscrew bolts and take apart a door no problem. Thats about it

The speakers have proprietary PORSCHE connectors. Meaning that they will not plug into any other vehicle. They will plug into any other PORSCHE vehicle. I am emailing my installer now but, I am pretty confident that all speakers meant for Porsche vehicles are direct swaps with other Porsche Vehicles. This is also why Nicks Tweeter upgrade will work on any 911, because they all have the same proprietary connector

Hope youre right boss. If the sound can be uphraded easily for a couple hundred bucks that would be sweet. I dont think i have an amp for the door woofers tho.

If you have 2 speakers in the door then you already have a channel from the amp to power it. If you only have one door speaker then thats another issue..

That's easy - snip and solder... Not "plug and play" but easily done and reversible.

Got the answer from my installer.. He cut the factory harness to remove the proprietary connectors. The speakers are built for Porsche so they have the correct connector already attached. If you unplug any factory Porsche speaker than the Bose or Burmesters will be pig and play. Same with tweeters.

Just to be sure i understand correctly, it looks like those two wires sticking out need to be spliced into the existing harness. Not sure what pig and play means. Thanks for looking into this
