CarPlay Stopped Working - Any fixes?
Just took delivery of my 2018 991.2 T. CarPlay was working perfectly, but I was sick of the screen coming up prompting me to hit “Apple CarPlay” every timeI turned on the car/connected the phone. I clicked on the box that said “don’t show this message again” figuring that would just auto connect going forward. Now the PCM will not recognize my device no matter what I try. I power cycled the phone, power cycled the car, erased all the PCM settings, reset, tried different USB port, etc. Nothing will work. When I try to manually connect the device through the menu, it just says “No phone connected.”
What gives? Any thoughts on how to fix?

Irrespective of the iPod/CarPlay setting, if you're seeing "No phone connected" then something else is going on.
Have you tried a different phone to rule out a problem with the phone? Also try a different cable.
As for the "don't ask" thing, you can go into Smartphone link setting in PCM and set iPod/CarPlay for any known phone there. If you delete the phone from the list it will start asking again every time you connect. But in your case it seems like the phone is not getting detected at all. Also, if you reset all PCM settings then the smartphone list is probably empty already.

Are you using an OEM cable in the car? If the iPhone detects a cable without the proper licensing coding on it the phone will refuse to send data over it. Unrecognized cables will support charging though, so don't let the charging indicator mislead you.

When your phone is plugged in and the ignition is on, is the phone charging?
While plugged in, does your PCM see the phone as an iPod music source?
Either of these could be indication your phone isn’t electrically connecting to the PCM.

With ignition in key-on posisition hold down on the volume/power **** for like 30 secs. The screen will go black. When you release after the 30 secs you should see the Porsche crest & splash screen with you 911 model. Then try yo reconnect you iphone.
Good Luck!

Mine stopped working yesterday as well. Has to be something with the phone since nothing in the car was changed and it worked fine before... I have a new iPhone 10

Are you guys on iOS 12.01? There will be a new version, iOS 12.1, coming out any day now so maybe that will help. You might also take a look at this page to help troubleshoot what could be the cause of your problem:

Replace your cable. Mine was charging but wouldn't connect to Carplay. New cable fixed it.

Well after turning off the car and going back to it a couple hours later it magically started to work again. To answer the others, I am using an Apple OEM cable. Fingers crossed that it was just a one-time fluke.

Same problem with '17 CS and solved, thanks to Seymour's post and link. Did the "Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled." Toggled it to green and its working again. Don't know how CarPlay got disabled.

Has this happened again? I have the same problem. Happens every time I drive more than 45 minutes. Then I get back home, and next day all works fine. That is until I take another long drive. Super frustrating for this to happen in a car in this price range.
