Any way to determine rarity of car?
is there any way to research how many cars were produced if a certain configuration?
i have a 991.1 C4S Cabriolet with the full Sport Design package (duck tail, bumper, wheels, etc).
Im not foolish enough to think it’s rarity affects value but I’m just curious how many were produced in this configuration. it ended up being a really high MSRP and I can not imagine many people put this configuration together rather than buy a GTS for the same or less $$$

That information isn’t made public by Porsche.

Three Wheelin'
According to PCNA only 100 of the "Sport Design Edition" were made in 2015. When I bought mine, (CPO) Porsche (Porsche of Chandler), who wasn't the selling dealer, said it was S/N001 of 100...nothing on the car like a placard or something like that is present...they determined it from the VIN somehow. The only way you know it is one is from the build sheet....it will have an option code "CCF" and a "?" as the description. From what was explained to me was that they came in three colors (guards, black, white) and half in coupe, half in cab and evenly split in colors (not sure how you split 100 by 3 and get an even number)...unless he meant coupe/cab.
So are they special? Doubt it....but then again I didn't buy it knowing it is what it is. It had all the stuff I was looking for...it was red, red, and red.

I've tried to get that information over the years from PCNA and to date I have had no luck...one would think I would learn to stop asking.

Considering the huge number of available options, colors, and models posdible, I'd bet it's safe to say that with the exception of launch vedicles built a batch, every 911 is a unique, one of one. If that makes you feel better I was glad to help.

I am looking to buy my first 997.1 and I have just discovered that the one I have decided on is indeed an Australian 2005 launch vehicle - would that be a concern?

Porsche does not disclose this stuff but they should. Unfortunately given the large number of options it is easy to build a one of one.
After my 2014 CS got totaled it was a ton of fun explaining to them that there actually was not an identical replacement car built, let alone in the country for sale.

not really what I was asking .... I’m sure there are a million combinations of every micro option but there are major, body altering options that can differentiate a car but historically were ordered in small numbers .... like the M491 option or the 993 aero kit option. It should be obvious I’m not asking about the color of someone’s deviated stitching

Rarity due to scarcity often makes things valuable. Rarity due to lack of popularity typically does not...

lol outside of a GT car don't think anyone cares about your configuration...
GT cars command those that garage queen their Porsches rather than drive them... hoping they can make a buck.
