Default UPDATE: '15 GTS Oil Leak from Strange Place...Shock Leak?

I was just in the garage the morning and I noticed a streak of oil on the floor of my garage under my '15 GTS 16k miles.

It seems to be coming from the driver side rear wheel area. It seems like a strange place to be an engine oil leak. I'm wondering if it could be a shock? I saw this post about a shock leak. https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9360...placement.html

I'm attaching a picture of reference you can kind of see where it's coming from. It's hard to get a vantage point see under the car. I'm planning on taking her in for service but I figured I'd ask her first.

Any help would be appreciated.

Could be shock PASM fluid.

I think it would be the 1st one I ever heard of leaking.

I just did a deep look under the car to the best I could since it's not lifted...I didn't see any sign of anything under there.

I'm wondering if it was water from condensation fro the AC unit that picked up some grease or oil or gunk on the way out? If you look at the picture I'm thinking a couple of things.

1) Whatever it was traveled pretty far down the floor of my garage which is pretty flat. Other than water, I don't see oil traveling that far.
2) For the most part it was pretty dry on the floor. There was a spot where it was still wet and oily but mostly dry
3) Clogged drain plug or something?

Strange. I'm planning on driving it tomorrow and seeing what it does.

Diagnosing puddles is generally an exercise in futility. Time to get the car up on a lift and see where the puddle is sourced.

A brake fluid leak is more probable.

Have you wife taste it, and report back. That's her job.

Get a little on a finger and dab a piece of paper and see if you can tell what color it is, which might help narrow it down. I would also say take a little taste but LexVan beat me to it.

Check your engine oil and your brake fluid levels while you are at it.

PDDC oil? I would think however with that amount (seems like a lot) you would have some sort of CEL by now.

I had a typical situation a while back. I took it to dealer because so many things go on in the wheel well (SPASM/RWS/brake lines/shocks, etc).

As it turns out, it was rusty water from washing the car and placing in garage soon after. Look at your tire and see if you have a corresponding trail coming down off of the rotor.

I took the car out this morning for a drive to a car meet up. I checked to see if there was any new drippings this morning before I left and it was nothing.

It was about 20 miles, I kept the AC off.

When I got home about 2+ hours ago I placed cardboard under the spot where it looked like it was coming from...I just check and it's dry as a bone..no leaking.

This is leading me to believe it was really dirty condensation from the AC after my drive a few days ago.

Regardless, I'm going to have the dealer put it up on a lift this week and double check it all for me.

Could have been rusty brake dust running off of the wheel after a wash or rain.
