What we found was that the muffler had to be unstrapped, and moved towards the rear so that the pins on the Cats that align the flanges could clear enough to twist the pipes that connect the cat and the muffler apart. It was possible to do the install without removing the bumper. But it may have been easier if the bumper was removed because the heat shields had to be detached and moved out of the way so the top bolts on the cat flange could be accessed and unscrewed. I'm quite sure if you have done this more than once or twice it would be quicker. Hope this helps.

Yes, though not as quickly as the outer wall doesn't get as hot as the single wall.
