991.2 Pricing
I'm in the market for a used 2017 991.2 carrera coupe with a manual transmission. I've been looking for a few months now. I intend to use the car as a daily driver. I'm looking at base, C4, C2S, and C4S cars (used buyer can't be too picky right?). Key for me in GT Silver or Graphite Blue with a manual transmission. There are a few other things on the wish list such as Sport Exhaust and 20' Sport wheels.
In previous threads i've noticed rennlisters getting up to 10% discounts on new cars (even more if the car has been sitting on the lot). But it seems the used 991.2 cars are going for (asking for) maybe 15-20% off original msrp sticker! Many cars that i may be interested in i've noticed sitting for quite some time (months). It seems to me; winter on the way, a soon to be replaced with the 992, 991.2 manual (less desirable---statistically speaking of course) would be priced more aggressively.
For example; 115k for a 2017 C4S original msrp 130K, 5k miles CPO, 106k for a 2017 CPO C2S original msrp 120K. This is basically across the board.
Does anyone have input? Anyone with recent experiences on purchasing a used 991.2? I don't want to go in and lowball a dealer but what is a fair discount from asking on a used 2017? I KNOW they are not trading these cars those prices! Just by considering a lease you have to figure porsche gives nearly 2K depreciation per month! And thats without the initial down payment!
Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm in socal and I don't know what actual sales prices were but some used 2017 with 5-10k miles at a discount of 5-10% off msrp made me gag. But they did manage to sell them quickly. Seems like finding pdk is much easier than manual. That's why I ended up getting new for a few percent more.

I can only speak to new cars but a 3-6% discount on an new order is the norm, not 10%; however, a new one on the lot you can probably be had for 10% off.

A car with 5k miles is not a new car on the lot even though 14% is still a good deal. If you can find a new one on the lot you can expect to get 10% but it still depends on the model, options and how long it has been on the lot.
If you must have a manual (like I did) then it will be harder to find one since 65-70% are PDKs. Keep looking and don't settle for something just to get a car.

I would not have commented at all but you quoted me so I felt I needed to reply, and as I said it was a good deal. Many people buy cars like that where the warranty was punched (started) a long time beforehand so at least you got the full warranty.

At this point I'd want 20% off original MSRP if buying a '17 CPO with low mileage. Priced above that and they sit.
PNH has an Ultraviolet PTS GTS for sale right now that's been sitting (hasn't been on lot very long and is priced too high) which I have been eyeing. No more garage space but if I did, that's what I would buy.

I am about to put my 991.2 C2S Manual up for sale. Ordered car 8k miles, 132k MSRP babied adult owned making room for my incoming GT3 and I am priced less than any of the vehicles you've mentioned.. PM Me if you are interested.

Me, I'm not paying 12% off of MSRP for a used car, I'm buying a new one for a few pennies more.
I'll suggest that you expand your search geographically. While your area may have inflated used car prices, you can certainly do better in other parts of the country. I did that with my last (used) BMW, saving enough to more than make up for the shipping and hassle.

I just turned in my 2016 911.1 GTS lease and the finance manager told me that they just sold a 911S with the same residual for $108K. I paid $112K for my GTS ( brand new , yes I got a great deal). She has told me that many people are buying the end of lease car because the new new lease MF is too high. Basically, CPO supply is going to be limited which helps driving up the resale value.
p.s. I sold my car to CarMax for almost $15K above the residual value.

I bought a '17 never titled C4S manual that had sat on the lot for nearly a year with 180 miles with a punched warranty 3 months prior for 20% off MSRP. GT Silver, and a highly optioned build. Deals are out there but it may take a nationwide search and you better pounce if you find one that checks the boxes for you.

Thanks for the good input. My plan is to continue looking for the right one at the correct price. I AM looking nationwide and using all of the typical sites. My thoughts are echoed in what everyone else said; I'm not buying a 1-2 yr old used car (no matter the miles or CPO) for 10-12% off original MSRP. I am currently on the 2020 list to build my own if it comes to that....but man! thats a year away. I would LOVE to find a C4S manual in GT Silver for 20% off....wow! Currently there's a used 2017 C4S in New York with an original build of 130K, CPO, 5K miles,....get ready for it....115K asking. Just wow!
PS: I purchased my current 2013 C4S Platinum Silver/Full Red interior in 5/2016 with 17k miles, 144k build for 83K....seems in 2 years things have changed quite a bit!

Another thing to consider (if the press reports are accurate) - the 992 rollout is supposedly going to be PDK only for the first run of cars, making MT cars even harder to come by than they already are.
