Interesting. I've had rear wipers on sports hatches (Supra, 300Z), wagon, hatches, and SUV's. On every one, they were very useful, and you could see a huge difference on the rear glass in the area wiped vs. not. I think with some designs they aren't as necessary but with any kind of vertical rear glass, they are a must. Personally I love the look and find it very retro on a 911.

Don't need it. Just ceramic coat the glass and away you go.
You only really need a wiper on vehicles where the rear window is reasonably vertical, ie: hatchbacks, SUV's, minivans. I use the rear wiper on my Golf R all the time. I'd even contemplated getting MUDBUTT as my vanity plate for that thing.

I passed on a hard to find Targa 4 GTS ....JUST because of that ugly wiper. Ruins the look. Remember from Cannonball Run. What's behind you is not important!

I live in a fairly rainy part of the world and have never felt like I needed a rear wiper. The rear window slope is so gentle that at speed the wind sweeps away the big drops, especially after treating with rain x (I bought but haven't tried aquapel yet) . I do wish the rear defroster would stay on longer though. On my Macan the rear wiper is required - the rear window is so vertical that it collects everything and the wind won't clear it away.

I love the functionality of a rear wiper but not a fan of the looks. The only time I would use it would be backing out of a parking space (and my rear camera and side mirrors might mitigate that).
I voted for no wiper on my 991.2 GTS. YMMV.

You cant delete the lightweight glass on the 19 T in the US any more. I almost did. Glad i didnt. It lets in lots of great sound and changes the aesthetic of the car. PS. I dont even like using my front wipers... lol

Had the rear wiper on my 997....never used it in CA. Wasn't my choice to have it as I bought it pre-owned. If I had a choice, no, I would not get it.

Yeah - I am thinking may be skip on the lightweight glass and get regular glass with defroster and no wiper on the Carrera T
As I do find defroster very useful on certain nights and weather conditions
But also concerned that light weight glass is a cool option
funny thing is that the defroster button will always be there regardless of the options selected.
