Default Sunroof poll for Coupe

Question is to option sunroof or not on a coupe.

the advantage more light, wind and noise without going full cab or targa

disadvantage is less headroom clearance and added weight

consider how much one actually uses it depending on where you live. I haven’t used it much on my other cars.

I would not buy a coupe without a sunroof. Mine is tilted up when I park and when I'm driving, unless I'm on a highway and cruising over 60 for more than a few minutes. I do it for ventilation and to hear more engine music. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of headroom, even with helmet on.

I have the metal roof and always have it popped or opened all the way during the fall and spring.

I have owned more than one vehicle with sunroofs and they are hardly ever opened.

I specifically ordered my C4S w/o one. If I wanted open-air motoring I would buy a drop-top.

My 997 had a "regular" sunroof that I opened once....I like my glass sunroof on my 991, but I still don't open it. I do put the shade back and tilt for vent but that's about it.

Depends on the owner and their desire to have one. For me, the glass sunroof is so enjoyable. Great for venting the car on hot days, great for driving around town and hearing more of the PSE, great for letting in the lights at night. If I were worried about having the lightest sports car available, I would have not bought this one. That being said, Porsche makes this and so many other things optional that you can have it any way you like. That's pretty awesome.

We were just up on Skyline Drive yesterday with the sunroof open. It was such a perfect day to smell the forest and hear the birds. After our incredible hike, we came back with it also open until we hit I-66 toward D.C. and pulled it close. The glass still lets the sun in but keeps the road noise out.

Is there really less headroom? I thought there'd be more since the inner roof dips up a few inches where the glass is.

I'm a big fan of the glass roof + shade curtain. It all functions really well and the car looks amazing with it tilted, slid up, and even closed.

If you have a non black color car the glass roof gives a really nice black color contrast up top.. Plus your spoiler goes up higher and it looks amazing in your mirror. Also to others who drive around and behind you. Ventilation is nice and you get to hear that music a little more behind you.

I'd have to agree with this part. The glass roof is solid and sealed. Not like other car brands where you'll hear road noise and air whistling through. I reached 200+mph in my car with no issues with the sunroof.

Ordered my GTS without a sunroof primarily because I prefer the look of the car without one.
Sunroof delete was an easy decision to make since I'm not a big sunroof fan, either.

Got into my car today thinking, "Do I miss a sunroof? Nope. Love the simplicity in line, spec, and weight without it." I love that this choice was returned to 911 owners with the 991 after being largely unavailable with the 997—and that there are now five flavors: coupes with no hole, a metal sunroof, or a glass moonroof...plus Targa or Cabriolet.

As an addendum to my reasons for wanting a sunroof, I should also mention that I'm a retired snowbird (or am ia summerbird?). Back and forth from Orlando to Chicago, for perpetual Summer weather.

If you have the chance to use it once a year on a beautiful evening possibly it is worth every penny, and the added weight is a non-issue to most owners.

I won't disparage a sunroof for anyone's particular taste, but it seems antithetical to a sports car. If you ordered one on a 911T, then you are on your own.

I hate them. Added expense, added weight (in the worst possible spot), one more thing to break down (yes, I have had a sun roof jam), increased risk of leaks, may reduce overall chassis rigidity.

To each their own.
