Default Whistling Sound at Speed, drivers side

I have a 991.2 C2S that I've only had a few weeks. I decided to have a full ppf wrap done. Drove it only twice before the film was put on to avoid getting a rock chip before the install. After the film was done I started driving a bit faster. It was at this point I noticed a whistling/wind noise once I reached speeds above 65 to 70 mph.

The location of the sound is tough to pinpoint exactly. I'd say its somewhere from the left of my ear to the drivers side mirror. The film installer put a lot of painters tape over much of the film edges on the mirror, and still the sound is there. Can't say if 100% of the mirror edges were taped up though. I'm going to test again with tape on the edge that is underneath.

Before the film was put on I drove with a lot of caution and was only on the highway for a second. I don't think I got up to 70 on either of my two drives, but for what its worth I did not hear any whistling on those two drives.

Have those of you with .2's and without film heard such a whistling? What about those of you with film, especially a full wrap?

I did read about the window issue on the .1's. I did make sure to hit the window up button before my last drive and still had the sound, but I'm going to test this again pushing both driver and passenger window button up at the same time as I heard this could possibly resolve it. Open to any ideas / thoughts.
Tks

you probably had the side mirror wrapped......the PPF on the mirrors will cause a whistle. Try a piece of tape or a bump on top of the mirror and it should fix it

Tks , Yes both mirror are wrapped. What is a bump?

I noticed the exact same thing after applying PPF to the drivers side mirror. Whistling during hard acceleration > ~70mph, and seemed to come from the upper rear of the driver side window. Despite the apparent cause, I spent a week fiddling around with the windows and trim , because I refused to believe a thin layer of film could cause such a loud sound (it was loud). Finally I put two strips of packing tape over the PPF edge curled over on themselves so the tape sticks up, presumably creating some turbulence around the mirror. No more whistle.

So did you leave the packing tape on the mirror?

So I pulled the mirror in ( how they position the mirrors for transport) , and the whistling went away.... so would this be conclusive evidence of the film on the mirror causing this?

I really did not want to read this.

My car has the whistle. I’ve had it in once and it’s slated to go back in tomorrow am to see if they can identify it. I hear it at 74mph. Sounds like top back corner of the window. Driver’s side only. Hmm.

Any pics of what “fixed” it? I might want to do some testing tonight.

What year is your car? Do you have film on the mirrors?

My driver's side mirror also started whistling after PPF install. Drove me nuts while I was on a long trip..... I pulled the PPF of the driver's mirror.
2014 with power folding mirrors.

Yes, tweety bird sound. That is a good way of describing it.

So i need to decide if I'm going to take the plunge and have the film on the mirror removed. Looks like I'm leaning that way.

Maybe it's the turbo engine? Just having some fun. I am avoiding what you guys are saying as I have PPF on my mirrors...

Yup, left it in place. Lasts all summer. Price is right too
