Apple Car Play to Support Waze on Sept 18th
iOS12 release is planned for Sept 18th and Apple Carplay is now going to support WAZE finally. I am super excited. We will be able to get real time traffic support without paying for it as well as all the other functionality that Waze offers.
I don't think the Beta version of iOS 12 had Waze integrated into Carplay yet. I can't wait to test it out.

Not on the currents beta, just checked.
finally this CarPlay malarkey will be borderline useful. Well, the maps did improve, now they are in par with 2004 tech. The screen resolution still upsets me as it seems to use the lowest possible, perhaps to average different head units resolution.

Maybe worth investigating. Personally, I don't see the hype on CarPlay. Lazy way for automakers to stay updated.

All i want is for my garage and gate opener app to be available in CarPlay and be able to move app from page to page so I can customize my screen

This is pure speculation. Just because IOS12 is coming out on the 18th doesnt mean Waze will have it ready on the 18th.
Nobody knows when Waze will be on CarPlay, but for sure it wont be until IOS12 is released, probably much later.
Why Waze on CarPlay? I use it solely for Police detection and to be able to have it front and center on the main screen sure beats looking at little icons on my iPhone propped up off angle to the side of console..

Waze is quite superior on real time traffic and road announcements, in my opinion. True it may not be available then, we can sure be hopeful

Waze may not even be planning to release a CarPlay-compatible version, though it appears something is in the works based on the slides used in Apple's WWDC presentation. All that has been announced by Apple is that it will permit third-party navigation apps.

iOS 12 does support Waze. What is missing is a Waze app that works with CarPlay, which currently would only be a beta version. It does not appear that Waze currently offers a public beta intended for use with CarPlay.
