if you wash your car regularly, then there’s no need for chemical wheel cleaners.

I thoroughly clean, polish, and wax my calipers each time I switch wheels and tires between winter and summer. Thanks feel that this helps keep the calipers looking good.

Harsh cleaners on hot brakes, not rinsing or not rinsing thoroughly. Some folks seem to not fully grasp its just paint on brakes and wheels...

Smart. A great caliper wax is RejeX Wax. Easy to source, not too $$. And holds up well to the heat and dirt. The last few years, I've had great success with the ceramic coating from Optimum Gloss Coat. About $60 for a 10mm syringe.

The next time your calipers are all clean and waxed, and the wheels off (can do with wheels on too), top with this. Then your necxt clean up will be even easier:

Base Macan loaner I have from dealer (which by the way the 4 banger base model sucks). For $52K you get a stripper model too. Lots of $$ for not much. The S/GTS/Turbos are much nicer.

New -- Less than 3K miles on it. Look how bad the fronts already look.

There must be something wrong with that particular loaner that you had. I have a 2018 base Macan and mine do not look like that.

By the way I love my base Macan. It is my daily driver and even though I did not buy it for the gas mileage it does do very well. The base is plenty fast for my congested morning commute. I previously owned a 2015 Macan S that I kept for 2-years and to me the base Macan seems a little lighter on it's feet. The only thing that I miss is the exhaust sound on the S. Other than that I would think that anyone that wants a very nice Porsche daily driver for Ford Explorer money the base is the way to go.

Yes.

The base models seem to have a more Gun Metal caliper with no clear coat or finishing product.
They do not wear well.
The Red, Yellow, White, calipers are finished MUCH better.

I assume the Ford or any others would have ALOT more options included in the $52K. The Macan you get a sunroof. The base seats with Alcantara suck. Not even blind spot assistance. A stripper and a commuting appliance. Anyway ...

Did someone get on the wrong side of the bed today?

Thanks for dissing my choice in a "commuting appliance"!

By the way my BASE Macan has the 14-way leather seats with the premium package plus, so I would hardly call it a stripper.

Was just talking about my loaner. Your choice is fine I just think they're a bit overpriced in the $50K's for what you get.

My Macan S is in for service again. Won't go there. Was in for a whole month in June/July. At least had Cayenne loaner.

Other day it just died. Who knows what's wrong now. Every warning possible popping up. Even parking brake was frozen. The tow truck had fun with that.

Thank goodness it's a lease!!

I was warned by a good friend of mine, the top mechanic (30+ years) at a Porsche Dealership here in LA, when I bought my 2013 Carrera S to avoid the spray wheel cleaners as he said they would/could turn the red calipers pink...

Not sure if the OP is referring to the base or S calipers? The base calipers have a super crappy (unpainted?) finish that fades and oxidizes very quickly from normal driving. The red S and yellow PCCB calipers have a nice painted finish that holds up very well unless tracked hard or subjected to harsh chemicals as mentioned above.

(which by the way the 4 banger base model sucks)

Coming from an '11 Cayenne S into '17 base Macan as our family's people mover, I can tell you the base Macan is very good. Does not suck.
