Not sure how to describe it but it is consistently “moist” in the area surrounding the windshield. Is this a known issue or something that can be covered under warranty? I’m the first and only owner of the car—so windshield never been replaced or damaged thanks |
It's a melting seal that has been noted before. It's a pain in the butt. I believe covered by warranty, but requires taking off the whole windshield.
There is more information somewhere on RL here about it. |
Damn....I’ll have the dealer take a look at it. Has been getting worse of the years and don’t want to be stuck with it when the warranty expires soon |

The same happened to my coupe in 2015. I spoke to the GM at the local Porsche Dealership and agreed to replace both front and rear glass under warranty. I received new OEM glass and weather seals. I also received a free loaner as well. If your local dealership gives you a hard time, reach out to PCNA and explain your situation. cheers |
I have the exact thing on my rear glass.
|
You probably will have to get a windshield replacement, sooner or later, from a rock hit while driving.

i have a bit of that goop on the rear windscreen. I cleaned it. And it looks fine now. Does this mean the window will eventually fail and leak? Thanks. I have 2 year CPO to watch it. My advice is to keep inspecting your weatherstripping (Front & Rear) and if the goop returns contact your dealership and have them inspect your car. This is not normal, so drive the car to your dealership for inspection if the goop returns. Ensure they document your visit and log your complaint for the record. The only remedy for this problem is replacement of the glass and seal (adhesive film). |

I too noticed goop around the front and rear seals on the glass and like you I cleaned the area thinking the goop was grease from the road I didn’t give it a second thought. Two weeks later I washed my car and during the drying stage the goop returned. Porsche also found that the defect only affected convertibles, as these models exhibit unique windshield stress ratios. |
