Tired of racing yellow?

Anyone have regrets getting racing yellow? Always liked yellow in general, my brother many years ago had a b5 S4 in yellow. Been looking at 718 gts which I don't think it works as well for but the 911 looks awesome. Anyone get it but get tired of it? Love the 70s Porsches in yellows and greens

Excuse all the questions I keep posting. I tend to spend ridiculous amounts of times looking and researching before buying.

Nope! I’m over 2 years in with my 991.1 C2S, racing yellow. Brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. It just feels so much more “special” to me than the common colors. That said it’s definitely a love it or hate it color. I am currently looking to upgrade to a 991.2 - either another racing yellow or lava orange.

No.

I know where you are coming from. I currently have a new 718 Cayman GTS in racing yellow and trying to decide whether I am going to bond with it or reject it. This is my third yellow car so one would think I would know already.

My first yellow car I had for six years and never gave it a second thought it was yellow. It just was. I also had an Imola Yellow S4 that I loved. Had it for about two years. Never got sick of it but I traded it for a black RS4. I was sad to let it go but the RS4 was used and I couldn't find one in yellow. I used to get teased ocassionally by friends about the yellow S4 but always in fun.

Now that I have had the yellow 718 for about a month, I am still trying to decide whether it is long term keeper. (I have three cars that I've owned for at least ten years each) It looks different in every light. Sometimes, I think it is too light, other times it is perfect. Sometimes it seems bright and flashy but then I go to a PCA meeting with a see of drab blacks, whites grays..and even the reds look pedestrian, and I am relieved I have yellow.

I feel your angst :)

Yellow tends to limit your resale market, if that matters to you.

Used to love Speed Yellow 993 Turbos, not sure I like Racing personally - no offense to any owners

Bright colors are a lot to live with, depending on your disposition. While I knew Agate was "safe," I went with Guards Red on the GT4 because it looked great to my eyes on the GT4. Never regretted it. I can see the same going for Racing Yellow if you love it on a certain model.

It's one of the look at me colors.

My RY Cayman is 5 years old and frankly it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made. In the ensuing years I’ve also owned Carmine Red, GT Silver, Meteor gray, and Guards Red Porsches. Racing Yellow on the Cayman is the only definite keeper. Like the poster above says “It brings a smile to my face every time I open the garage.”

I think if it’s both calling out to you and a little scary at the same time, just like the Porsche purchase in general it’s probably totally what you need.

i really don’t think there’s a bad color for cars that look this good btw.

Dunno about racing yellow but I got tired of black VERY quickly...

My Racing Yellow C2S is a CPO; it popped up with pretty much every option I wanted for a great price.

I love Racing Yellow, and will do my best to get "fun" colors in the future. Our other car is a red GTI, so I joke that our garage is "ketchup and mustard" :D We were driving behind a gray 911 one day and my wife said, "Regular colors seem so boring now..."

One warning: Do not buy Racing Yellow if you do not like attention! 99% of the time it is positive (waving, thumbs up, pictures, etc.), but I can see it making some people uncomfortable.

Too funny, a yellow GT3 parks next to my lava orange every once in a while and everyone at the office calls us the "Skittles Gang"...my wife hates loud colors.

I'm going through the exact same thing with Sapphire Blue... it's the build I want and I like the color, but I'm worried that I will feel self conscious driving it. I guess I'm conservative... wouldn't hesitate if the car were white/silver/gray/black.

I'm 4+ months and over 5,000 miles into my racing yellow 718 Boxster GTS and it's everything I hoped it would be. As much as I love my (chalk) 911 TTS, there are many times I'd rather drive the Boxster, and I absolutely love the color. (Background: I previously owned a sequence of two Corvettes, both of which were inferno orange metallic.) What a welcome change from the plethora of dark and -- dare I say it -- drab colors we so often see on the road.
