Default Rear fender ding, any luck with PDR methods?

Someone opened an SUV door and against my 991 Cab and left a pretty good dimple on the passenger rear fender. This is a double-walled area and there is no good way to access from the underside short of drilling a hole. I had a dent guy come out and try to glue-stick it out and that didn’t work in spite of him working 90 min on it. Choices now are to try another dent removal guy or just go body shop and fave it filled and the quarter panel painted.

Has anyone had any luck getting a dent out of this particular area of a 991?

Sorry to see that. Try pulling the wheel and wheel well liner. Maybe you'll find an access hole. Or have a small hole made, and then properly sealed and plugged. Better than paint work.

What if you pull the rear tail light? Any access that way??

I used a PDR guy down here last month and I still cannot believe he made a dent disappear (aluminum fender) but yours may not be fixable via that method. Nevertheless, I suggest getting at least one more opinion since when I was looking for someone I emailed pics of the dent to 5 PDR guys and 3 said they could not fix it so maybe you will find someone after all.

Since you said it was caused by an SUV should be assume you saw the person that did it?

Just got my first door ding in years...on my 991...on the roof rail (!) right above the B-pillar. Talk about ugh, given that it's a structural member. Figured the only fix would require a paint gun, but learned about "glue pull" PDR (worth Googling) and, $200-300 later, it's virtually impossible to find any evidence of the ding. Worth seeing if the technique can be applied to your damage, but I am one very happy camper.

I would try another dent guy. With some disassembly of the interior or exterior.

Honestly if there is no paint damage I would pull the tire and liner and seriously consider a drilled hole with proper plug under the liner before a repaint.

^ Glue pulls require no disassembly. There are videos online (some actually show the technique), and now having seen it firsthand, I'm a believer. No paint damage, just several pulls followed by a little tapping and viola!

PDR has come a long, long way.

My car had a ding in a similar place and it was removed using PDR. It can be done, you just need to find a better PDR guy.

Find out which dent artist your local Porsche dealer uses. That does not look that tough to me...

I agree. I have seen some amazing dent work done in really difficult spots. Try other PDR guys. That is fixable.

I agree on getting a referral from the dealer. I have a guy I know from my M-B sales days take two dings out of the same area. He jacked the car up enough to get the rear wheel off the ground, drilled an access hole in the fender liner, massaged the dings away and plugged the hole. They disappeared. The sooner you get it attended to the better the result.
Good luck.

You need to pull the rear bumper, remove the heat shield on that side, and there is a medium hole that gives you direct access to that area for a PDR guy to get to. Ask me how I know

I had a similar one removed with a glue pull - by a talented pro. Like new!

i have use PDR on various different cars and they all work great!

they usually run about $150 per panel so if you have 2 door dings on the same door, is the same price.

OP, same dent, same initial response. I contacted the P-car dealer here who directed me to a PDR guy who went through a pre-existing hole in the inner fender structure. Gone!
It was $150 but I removed the bumper skin myself. The guy who did the magic indicated he worked for BMW and was trained by their folks. He said he got plenty of practice at the SUV plant in Greer.
