Default No more glare: Carbon/Leather Interior Makeover

The mid-day sun in TX can be quit intense, and the shiny aluminum trim wasn't doing me any favors. The worst glare points for me were the steering wheel center trim section, shift ****, PDK shift base, and passenger dash trim. At different points in the day, each would catch an annoyingly blinding angle with the sun. The makeover consisted of a new 991.2 steering wheel with black center, custom wrapped in carbon weave and alcantara from ebay seller "12ava"- a simple search for 991 steering wheels show his selection. Then the wonderful folks at DB Carbon sent me a full matte carbon interior package of dash, cupholder, shift ****, and door pulls. This put me at the 95% mark, and I finished the project up by replacing the PDK trim base with a MT leather shift boot. I'm willing to bet it's one of few PDK cars with a leather boot-- the main driver being glare elimination, but I also find it looks quite good. Feel free to ask any questions on the process or parts. * Car is a '16 C2 Black, without heating or multi-function. The 991.2 steering wheel and airbag were a direct replacement, with no warning lights after install.

Look great! Did you order the leather boot from your Porsche dealer?

Looks great, but I don't get the wheel. Isn't the CF slippery? I don't understand why you would want CF where you hold the wheel and alcantara where you don't. Seems backwards to me.

I prefer the original look. Not a fan of CF.

That was my concern, but it's leather and with the texture, less slippery than the original. Very pleased with the tactile result. I'm in Spring/Woodlands if you see me around feel free to check it out.

I found the boot on ebay and removed the MT ****. For the swap, you'll also need the lower trim piece 991-553-651-01-A05

How much did that cost? I hate the glare in my C2S aluminum trim.

All-in, it's probably around $5-6k, but a lot of that is the steering wheel & airbag, and I went all out with the new pdk **** and door pulls. If I were to do just the trim, it would have been $1-2k. I could recoup a lot of that by selling the original trim and wheel, but I might keep it around when I trade/sell the car in the future.

Looks awesome! I'm trying to source a boot with red stitching. Not cheap!

I have the same CF shifter from DB Carbon.
