Delivery of my 2018 Porsche 911 T in Miami Blue

I’d like to document my experience of delivery of my 2018 Porsche 911 T aka “Baby”.

I tracked my vehicle from Emden Germany to Jacksonville Florida.
I followed the Siem Cicero via the Marine Traffic website - http://www.marinetraffic.com
It can be interesting and yet tormenting following your vessel. Tick-tock or like watching paint dry...
I saw that the shipped had docked in Jacksonville on July 21st.

I figured I’d have about two weeks to organize my funds to complete my purchase. So, I messaged my SA to get me a final price worked up so that I could wire the money to the dealership.
On July 26th my SA text me a video of my vehicle being offloaded from the semi trailer right next to a GT3 in Miami Blue.
Wow! Quicker than I thought to get to the dealership. Lots of drooling commenced, and that made my day. Now I got to get to work.. Snap to it boy!

I went to pick up my Miami Blue 911T at Braman Porsche in West Palm Beach on August 3rd. The dealership had agreed to trailer the vehicle to
Pinpoint Precision Detailing ( http://www.pinpointprecisionautodetailing.com ) in Coral Springs. I wanted to make sure the body was in pristine shape for Francisco Santiago to work his magic on doing a color correction and Full PPF with Modesta. The dealership didn't prep the exterior or interior other than removing the plastic.

Here was the treatment to be done to her:
Stage 2 Paint Correction
Full Xpel Ultimate Plus
Modesta BC-04 Paint, Modesta BC-08 Paint
Modesta BC-09 wheels/calipers, Modesta BC-08 wheels/calipers
Modesta EPC (plastic)
Modesta LPS (leather)
GlassParency (glass)

I dropped “Baby” off looking like this. A few rough spots mainly from adhesive buildup, but she still looked great to me.

Francisco teased me daily with pictures as I could see the deep shine build from the color correction. I am amazed how flawed the paint comes from the factory. To see it corrected and the true beauty come through shows how skilled of a Master Francisco is at his craft.

Parked inside the shop and ready for her beauty treatment.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...cb87e4e70.jpeg
A nice foam cannon bath. Not sure if he used CarPro Reset at this time.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...1638b4a68.jpeg
Sonax Wheel Cleaner was used. Dealership used too much tire dressing and this seemed to do the trick and make them clean.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...849c38a3a7.jpg
Doing a quick undercarriage inspection. I was concerned the inside of the rims being damaged during delivery... even though I bought wheel insurance.

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...52b4bde25.jpeg
I light flaw found in the paint.

Francisco profiling as he gets ready to make her flaws disappear.

The deep shine after the color correction.

Crest removed and PPF applied

Water squeegeed out, look at that shine come through

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...09bd5e051.jpeg
Pre-Cuts done on the door. That way the mirrors didn't have to be removed.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...ee83cea4a.jpeg
Custom PPF pieces done for the rear quarter / rocker panels.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...52120a408.jpeg
Custom template being mocked-up. Francisco realized that the letters have a slight curvature to them.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...872d0b314.jpeg
Looks funny without the lettering. We joke she has a bubble butt and nice hips!

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...76db85548.jpeg
PPF applied and letters are back to normal.

A little preliminary product show casing from Francisco. At this point I'm waiting for the full reveal. It looks like glass on top of the paint at this point

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...fb1fc0739.jpeg
Adding the leather protective products to the interior.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...0f866df87.jpeg
Treating the plastic exterior parts.

No matter how I try adjusting the setting of my Nikon camera, she just turns out baby blue. This the reason I started calling her "Baby".. And the fact that I have no kids, she will be my baby! Ha ha.
My wife calls her my new girlfriend. I just tell her not to get jealous!

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...0973ff1bd.jpeg
Picking up "Baby". She greets me with a smile.

Looking good from top to bottom. Immaculate!

The car looked fantastic. I was a little OCD / apprehensive on the pre-cut PPF. It bothered me a bit noticing the edges. I have to keep telling myself to step back a little and you cannot see them. The optical clarity of the Xpel Ultimate Plus is really that great, for the most-part you'd never notice it has PPF unless you are really close. Its hard living with myself being so picky. With the Modesta on top any dirt that settles in those edges will just wash away.

Now it was time to take her home.
I was a bit concerned when I hit the expressway and the car became extremely loud inside the interior. I posted about it. It really makes a difference on the pavement. I've driven it a bit more since then and can say most places its tolerable around town. Just when you are above 65 MPH.... Time to crank the radio up!

The car drove comfortable and very compliant. The precision the car feels in driving made me reflect how much I've missed my German cars of the past.
The drive was good until about 30 miles from home. The rain poured down. I could tell the GlassParency product was working, but it didn't seem to act like Rain-X. I also was not sure how the aerodynamics of the car pushed the air across the windshield. So not much I can comment on that product for the moment.
The water was beading and flying up the car from the Modesta coating. Looked like tiny marbles rolling toward you. You could tell its hydrophobic properties were purely awesome!

Drive home and the last 30 miles it rains

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...7eca2e863d.jpg
Put away wet.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...e8116e38b4.jpg
At home in her newly coated garage floor.

I had to put her away all wet. At least she wasn't road hard, I did have to practice a lot of restraint with my right foot!
You can see the beads of water everywhere. And the trails they made going up the hood. So far I feel the Modesta products are living up to their reputation.

I can say I'm very happy with the work performed by Francisco. He has a fantastic reputation and you can see the pride he does in his work. He treats your "Baby" as if it was one of his own. A great personable guy to deal with. Highly recommended!

Plus she got a little photo shoot / video to boot! -

Beautiful! Congrats on the car and the paint protection work. If I were ordering a Carrera today, it would be the T. By the way, nice color.

good2go 08-20-2018 09:43 PM

Congratulations.

have you considered putting sound dampening in doors and wheel wells.

My my son does this to his car to improve music sound. Makes a big difference.

CamsPorsche 08-20-2018 09:54 PM

Congrats! I literally ordered my White Carrera T today...

Highway2Hell 08-20-2018 10:03 PM

I have been considering putting in some sort of sound deadening on the rear wheel wells. I was surprised to see that forum post placed the material outside the cab and not placed in the interior side of the wheel wells. The deadening on the plastic shroud seemed a good idea too.
What I'd like to see is what exactly Porsche removed, so it could get replaced... then maybe improved upon it.
Right now I just think I'm in the budding new part of my relationship with her. So I'm sure as time goes on I'll be thinking on more ways to improve it. Right now its just enjoy the ride with all smiles.

Beautiful! My only regret with my GTS is that I did not go for entire car PPF. I have asked for a quote to complete it and am still waiting for a number.

titan7 08-21-2018 12:45 AM

Love it, congratulations!

OTM 08-21-2018 01:23 AM

Beautiful!

tstafford 08-21-2018 08:37 AM

OP: You should bookmark this post for when you sell the car. Anyone who doubts you'll care for the car is a fool!

Enjoy the heck out of that beauty.
