turboS to gts?
I am thinking about trading my 2018 TTS for a 4gts. I love the torque of the TTS but dislike the vacuum sound of the turbos and haven’t been satisfied with my aftermarket exhaust so maybe the gts will give me better sound and no vacuum. Will I miss the torque? Has anyone went from a turbo to a gts? Thoughts?

Do you mean a '16 GTS? The newer ones are turbo like yours but tuned down. I have a 16 GTS and it sounds/drives great but any of the new turbo motors will leave it in the dust. Just depends what you are looking for.

Hmm, maybe we can swap for a week?

I am going to go to the Porsche experience in Atlanta and drive them back to back.

Report back after your PEC drive. The throttle response is not close to NA but they are trying, with the latent boost in sport+ it's noticeably slightly better.

I went from a 4S to the TTS. I love my TTS. Love the torque, ride quality, handling, all around best super car of them all. I am a 4 time past TT owner so I knew what I was getting. For me the TTS is an awesome car, I don't know if you have had yours long enough to really know it's capabilities. Have you tracked it?
I have the Europipe (original) on mine. I also have the Cobb tune with the PDK Update. Great tune and the PDK Upgrade gives the car a shift feel closer to GT3. Quick, sharp shifting with a small kidney punch.
Don't know what exhaust you have but look at a Kline or the new louder Europipe. Original Europipe for 991 TTS were quieter but the new one is more aggressive.
Biggest difference if you go to the 991.2 GTS is you can get a manual if that's important. In the end drive what turns you on, you only live once.

I've only tried a regular 991.2 Turbo, and I remember thinking it didn't feel that fast or special to drive. They didn't have a Turbo S to test drive, so I'm not sure how it compares, but I ordered one anyway thinking it would be better.
Unfortunately, after several months of not being able to get me an allocation I got impatient, and I test drove a 991.2 GTS (RWD) on a whim. That was a surprise. It was fun, alive, quicker than I expected, and sounded better. I fell in love with it immediately and canceled my Turbo S order. I still get as excited every time I drive it as I did on that initial test drive. Also, with a tune it feels faster than the regular Turbo I drove, so while it's not a Turbo S it's definitely a quick car.
That's just my experience/opinion, but I highly recommend test driving both cars back to back if you can. Nobody here can tell you which car will speak to you more.

I have gone from a ‘15 TTS to an ‘18 Targa 4 GTS. To me the GTS is more fun to drive, and the stock sound significantly better sounding. But, I am in the minority on here in that I don’t want louder than stock, and am perfectly happy with 991.2 sound.
I have missed the huge torque of the big boy TTS a few times here and there but not to the degree of regretting the change.
Also to consider, is that the TTS is (my opinion, others will disagree) the best looking of all 991 variants due to the widest rear and the intakes/spoiler, etc.
So, test drive and make your decision.

I just went from a 991.2 C4S to a 991.1 TTS. No comparison. The .2 C4S sounds like a vacuum as well. Don't get me wrong, great car; however the 991.1 is so much faster and more fun (for me.)

You got a brand new 18 TTS and trading it would be a huge hit for such slight (subjective) difference of sound.
There's plenty of turbo sounds in the 991.2 and I personally like it. If you want no turbo sounds don't get a turbo.
Where do you live? Maybe you can try someone else's car. I'll take that 'problem' TTS off your hands for my 17 C4S.

Although sound is important to me, I love the way my GT3 sounds, it's the way it feels is what sold me on it. I test drove it just prior to a Turbo S and just after a GTS. I went into it thinking that the Turbo was what I'd go home with, possibly the GTS, and that the GT3 would be well, just to try it.
Shows you what I know. The Turbo reminded me so much of my Macan Turbo - except for the acceleration - that I eliminated it. Driviing the GT3 gave me goosebumps for the first time since buying my first car, a 1966 Corvette, right after college graduation. The GTS fit between the two.
So, before you buy the GTS, try the GT3. Maybe like me, you'll surprise yourself.

I had a .2 4 GTS MT and miss it dearly. In your case, the only reason I’d make the swap is if you wanted 7MT. I loved my PDK but prefer the manual 911s I own/owned. As others have said I wouldn’t do the swap based on difference in sound alone. Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide.

For soundtrack, the 991.1 GTS is pretty epic. Some on RL have said it sounds better to them than the GT3. Naturally aspirated bliss. Of course, it does not have the in-your-face torque that the turbos have but it also doesn't have, ahem, turbo lag or that daggum turbo whistle. Food for thought.

I went from a 2015 GT3 to a CPO 2015 TTS for a year and then traded it in for a new build 2018 GTS 991.2.
no regrets. The GT3 was the best sounding. The TTS super quiet by comparison. Kept it stock.
I like the burbles on sport on the new GTS, sport plus nice on track. I like lane change assist and apple car play on the new car.
My advice is drive them both back to back at PEC Atlanta. Then work out the financials. You could always modify the exhaust on your current TTS.
Btw. Had a blast recently at PEC LA with GT force 2 hr class on oversteer control and drifting lessons.
