For $11,430.

VW however will let you pick from 40 non-standard colors for $2500.

The question is not why they can't....it is why they wont. They wont because they know that you are willing to pay xtra for a preferred paint or custom paint. They wont do it because they know if you are willing to pay 140k on a car ...you can afford a little xtra on custom colors. They wont because they know that a VW owner will pay for the same oil change $150 ..but the Porsche owner is willing to pay $500-650 for the same oil, similar filter, and labor. That is why they wont....they can if they wanted to.

PTS on a Porsche will soon eclipse $20k. Demand still exceeds the willingness of supply.

We had it here in Canada for the 2018 models, too. My brother has a Golf R in a really nice dark purple, it's a gorgeous colour.

Yeah. And Porsche buyers would line up to pay twice the VW fee for one of the 40 VW colors (that are obviously not subject to feasibility testing.)

That’s it. We should all vote with our wallets and buy Golf Rs instead of 911s.

That’ll show’em.

My guess is Porsche will go to something similar soon. There are ~200 colors on the PTS list, 40 would make 75% of people happy. They have already more than doubled the price of PTS and also now charge double that for a new color in feasibility.

Why bother, people only buy white or black.

I have to say that I am a bit amazed that the latest price ($11,430) for a PTS color. Glad I got mine when it was "only" $4,315. Rennlisters back then were giving me crap for paying that for a non-performance option.

Exclusivity has its price I suppose.

Order the car in white and wrap it any color you want for a whole lot less. Plus it protects your factory paint.

This -^. A high-quality wrap will be $3-5k which is now so much less than PTS that it’s a no brainer.

Does anyone have longterm experience with a wrap? Any downsides?
