Default 2018 911 Targa 4S

Hey guys -

Looking for some pricing advice and hope I'm in the right section.
Have owned several Porsches in the past but have been in the Italian car world for many years now.
Looking to add a P-car to the stable.
Found a nice NEW 2018 911 Targa 4S that lists for $155,760.
Being that 2019's are now appearing and the car will soon be considered to be a year old what would be considered a fair price to offer for this car.....what % discount should I Iook for ?
Thanks

Just keep in mind that with the changeover to the 992 next year there probably won’t be a “new” Targa on the market (either 991.2 or 992) for a couple of years, at least.

So dealers are sort of in a good position, especially given the already limited number of Targa allocations to begin with.

So the typical discounts for 911s on the lot will probably not translate to Targas.

That sounds quite steep - I would think below 10%.

I got a Carmine Red Targa 4GTS manual coming in two weeks but decided to get GT3. Let me know if you want to take over the MSRP. It will delivered as 2019 according to my dealer .

You can get an idea of what asking prices are for manual Targas here, and you can modify the search terms for PDK, etc.

https://www.carstory.com/cars/make-porsche/model-911?trim=targa_4s&year=2014-2018&transmission=manual

I agree it will be a while before we see a 992 Targa for a while. And considering that only 1 of 8 911 variations are Targas they are a fairly rare breed.

PS - I got my 2019 Targa GTS allocation at 6% off and I know I someone can get at least 5% off on the next batch of allocations, maybe more on other models.

Hi Bob Z; I looked on that list and there were many Targa 4S but no Targa 4 GTS, did I miss something?

Are you referring to the search URL I posted? Here is the search with all listed:

Thanks for the offer but due to some spinal issues I'm better off sticking to PDK. Good luck on your GT3.

Cool worth its weight in gold

I drive a 2018 911 Targa 4 gts and it is worth its weight in gold
I have driven many Porsches from 356 to air cooled 911's to 911 Turbo cabriolet to Panamera
This is the most fun!

Update on the details of this car.
Supposedly it was an executive car ( never titled ) and has 1650 miles on it with the warranty punched Jan. 2018.
Please give an opinion on what would be considered a very good deal for this car - dealer is offering $4000 off the $155,760 sticker....I'd like to push the limits.
( Bob Z. - read your reply elsewhere...thanks )

You would be closer to reality, but apparently a number of very “shrewd negotiators” on this forum haha.

That is probably a pretty fair deal...I can tell you there are not a bunch of T 4S / T 4 GTS models on the market (keeping in the "new or CPO" category). You might push a bit more, but realistically you will probably cap out at 6%. FWIW, I got 6% off a new 18 T4 GTS in July 2018...

Good luck, and what I can tell you, if you find one you like, I would move on it...they don't stay around too long...I would actually be curious as to the build...you are almost in GTS $$$ @ $155K.

I would want more off of that car, not a penny over $145k, and that's assuming the options are good and aren't full of bloat. By the time you take possession of the car, you'll have lost almost a year of warranty. Oh, and if you buy an executive car, make sure that they agree to show it as a NEW car on the sales/titling documents. I bought a left over, never titled, warranty punched, demo car with 300 miles on it once, and the paperwork showed it as a USED car purchase. I was pissed but the dealer claimed that's how they had to show it, even though the car was never titled.
