What would you do in my shoes....911T vs 911S/GTS....
Thinking of selling my 2011 Boxster Spyder for something a little more family friendly. Of course I love the purists style cars, so naturally the T seems like the choice. Unfortunately I won't spec the carbon buckets which I love the looks of, because I need to have the option of the backseats. So with that being said, and thinking of spec'ing something with sports design package, LED headlights, probably PCCB on the T (not on others) and having a spec around 120-125, what do you think is the better option. I like the shorter throw manual on the T, the interior door pulls. Not sure yet on the gorilla glass, might consider spec'ing the typical glass back in for safety and the kiddos but need to look into this more. I have never driven a T. I drove a Carrera S and really liked it. Way more power than my Spyder. From the reviews I have read and watched, the lack of HP in the T doesn't seem to really matter as the car seems to feel more alive and somewhat more naturally aspirated. My idea is a fun car to take to dinner and drive on the backroads, not necessarily something for track or anything that hardcore. Thoughts from anyone who has driven both?

It sounds like you're leaning towards something more "family friendly", so the additional creature comforts of a GTS would probably be a better choice in that regard, plus you'll get an additional 80HP and a bunch more torque. Take both for a test drive and see what you think!

Don't sell that 987.2 Spyder. I made the move from a GT4 to a 991.2 Carrera 7MT and don't regret that, but I am not sure I'd feel the same after a 987.2 Spyder...one of the all-time four-wheeled sweet spots.
If the tradeoffs for family reasons are overpowering, the best analogy to your Spyder is the Carrera T 7MT....and the cloth 4WSS+ seats are wonderful.
GTS is a super nice car, with tons of power and "more" of everything. If that's what you're after, it's hard to beat. But if what kept you in the Spyder for most of a decade was its delicious "less is more" ethos, the T or even a regular Carrera with a 7MT may just be your 991.2.

I don't do any track driving and the base engine has more than enough power for public roads, so the S & GTS power levels would just be overkill for me. Since the T is bundled with all of the handling options & shorter gearing it was a perfect option for me. After 4500 miles I have no complaints about the additional noise with the gorilla glass and my 10 & 12 year old boys love it! If you plan to DD it the Burmester is well worth the money - contrary to popular opinion, a better sound system is even more critical in a louder environment since it is more capable of overcoming the ambient noise.

GTS no question. It's more than just the power, its everything else you get.

GTS is the obvious choice as it has more and better everything over the other models. If you dont want or need more or if price is a consideration, then any of the other models are outstanding..

I'd definitely get a GTS if money isn't a consideration. It's a fantastic car, and for me was the most fun 991.2 model I tried. I haven't had a chance to try a T yet and I hear it's fantastic, but I know you definitely can't go wrong with a GTS.

Spent 90 min with the T at LA PEC and was floored - the gearing, the responsiveness and the sound! I didn’t feel it was lacking for power at all (and I came from a 991.1 C2S). I thoroughly enjoyed the car with one minor exception - the cloth door handles are a PITA and seem a bit silly to me. Since I needed a DD I went to the greater creature comforts of the GTS (extra power a plus).
if your first inclination is a T I’d say go for it - you won’t regret the choice.

Another option would be the base Carrera. I went to the local launch party for the 991.2 over two years ago and after seeing the car in person decided that I wanted a new 911, so for the next few months after that reveal I drove several variations of the 911 and concluded that for me and my money the base Carrera was the sweet spot. In fact it saved me almost enough money over what a fully loaded 911 GTS would cost to buy my wife a new 718 base Cayman (manual). I am never going to track my 911 and for me it has all the power I will ever want or need, and I can put my Grandkids in the back seat. It has all the creature comforts that I was accustomed to in my many various BMW's over the years, yet the 991.2 base Carrera is an incredible driving experience.

I ordered a T as it has everything I realistically would need in a 911. The S and GTS are great models as well, but for me a GT3 Touring would have been the model I would have ordered if I could have ordered one at sticker. The GTS in particular is too close in price to the GT3 for me to pay for and still not have a GT3. That's why I ordered a T and am on my dealer's list for a 992 GT3 at sticker down the road a few years away. Once I get it and have experienced first hand what it's like to own and drive my scenario may change. I'm certainly not going to complain as the T is a great package, and it might be a little rare compared to most of the other 911's.
