For my 55th birthday, having owned 4 different 4-banger Porsches since 1970, my wife who could care less about cars encouraged me to special order the brand new 2000 Boxster S of my dreams.
Today, I'm on my 10th Porsche at 74. It's my 10th Porsche and second 911, and yes it's the best of the bunch I've owned.
She still could care less about cars and car events and Porsches that I'm so addicted to, but she certainly is a good wife.
We are snowbirds, alternating between our Orlando burb home and our Chicago burb townhome. And i probably average near 4 car events per week, year. She almost never goes, but encourages me to enjoy them. That's a really good wife!!!

My 55th birthday a couple of weeks ago. My wife gives me an envelope and a box. In the envelope is a piece of paper with a white 911 on it - the caption says "life is too short, you work hard, go get your car - love you", in the box is a Porsche travel mug. I searched all over the country, flew to SFO, bought a 2015 991.1 GTS and it is on an enclosed hauler on it's way to me in Florida now - should be here Sunday.

When I was eleven years old, I was roaming around the Short Hills Mall with my dad and saw a silver 911 inside the mall while waiting for my mom and sister to finish shopping... asked my dad if we can have one, and he said if you study hard you can buy one when you get older.... fast forward 27 years, I woke up on Halloween morning and decided today I’m going to go buy a new 911.... that evening I was to take delivery of the car, took my dad with me to sign the papers, and I said... well I was a pretty crappy student, but still was able to get one! He laughed pretty hard 😁

Great story. My wife said a similar thing to me last year when I suggested we get her a full sized Land Rover (not my style). She said "you have been Porsche-less for too long (I had sold a 993 in 2014 to get an M5). It is great when the spouse is on board. I also got a 991GTS in white, but a a Cabrio Allrad.

I've had my 991 for 5 years and never had anything in the back seats or behind the rear window. Good for you. At least somebody is making use of that space.
But do the boys fit back there with helmets on? Something to think about.

Maybe 4 years ago I talked my wife into visiting the Porsche dealership and did a test drive of a 991.1 C4. First drive of any type of sports car. Loved the handling but not the engine power. Put in an order for a 991.2 C2s in October 2016. Finally got car in June 2017. I will never forget the felling of driving to the dealer and seeing our spotless gorgeous new 911 sitting really to go in the showroom. Very special memory. Now three years later that same shiny car is still sitting in the garage. Lease is ending and we are buying the car because the 911 magic is still going strong after three years! BTW my wife just loves the car despite never having driven it

5 years ago I was going to look at a Audi R8 the local dealership just got it but I stopped off at the Porsche dealership 1st and I never left.
Lightly optioned Audi R8 or a fully loaded CPO'ed Porsche 911 C4S w/2700 miles.
After 93,000 miles I think I made the right choice.

Wanted a Targa from the initial 2014 launch. In 2015 I backed my 997.2 into the garage door and started looking to see if any Targas were attainable via CPO yet.
To my surprise there was one in San Antonio (5hrs away) with exactly all the features I would have specced myself! Sent pics of my car to the dealer, made a tentative deal, drove out there and it was finalized.
That was August 2015 and here I am still loving it. Just ticked over 50k miles driving it from the Bay Area to Texas.

I'm on my 4th Porsche now. Love the search for the right car. I usually buy them in Germany. Saves me a few buck's, but the most important is the trip back to Norway. Straight out on the Autobahn with the "new" car. Long distances with unlimited speed is quite fun with these cars as you can imagine.. My car? It's a 2017 C2 with most options.

Well, at 75 I decided to get my first Porsche. I found the exact car I wanted (a CS Cab) about 130 miles from my home. I wasn't able to go there for a few days so I called and got SA on the phone. We talked back and forth for a couple hours. I finally decided to give him a deposit without seeing the car in person, so I gave him My CC and told him to write it up and I would be there in a couple days. About 30 min. after I hung up he called me back and said someone else just sold the car. Now, being in a dealership for 20 years I found that disturbing, for many reasons. Anyway, I kept looking and found a better car (a GTS in my color combo) but it was 1300 miles away. It was Dec. and it was in MI. so I got what I think was a good deal. He shipped it to me for free, and I am living happily ever after.

Short story. In trying to buy a SeaRay cruiser for the Lake with our second home, I became friends with the seller. Guess what, he is also President of our local dealership that sells all makes of high end cars, including the Porsche dealership. 911’s all at once became much more affordable and more importantly made a good friend along the way!

On my first 911- a relative of mine was discussing about getting a 911 and asked my thoughts to which model etc used. After some discussion I started thinking of getting one. So I went to the dealer near my house and saw one that I liked. I did a test drive and dropped off the salesman down the street and told him to wait. I drove the car to my house and showed my wife.
i told her I just bought the car, she didn’t believe me and I insisted. When she thought I really did buy it, her response wasn’t that negative given I didn’t discuss with her first. I told her I will be right back, I need to do something.
i picked up my salesman waiting down the street hurried back to the dealership did the paperwork and brought it home.
If my wife was to be really upset or not approve- I would have told her- Just kidding and test drive is over.
Ended by the 991 before my relative did and
On my second 991 now, plan to add a 4 th car and will probably be a F car. Going to have to try it out again. Lucky for me, the dealer is also just 5 minutes from my house as well.
