Default Does computer track airbag deployment?

Hi folks, does the 991.2 track airbag deployment? Can this be checked by mere mortals?

The airbag is black in this model, but I can't verify the reason for it being changed.

black horn/airbag must have been replaced, but why? can the computer tell if the previous one was deployed?

Is it possible to do it from the car UI?

Are black horns a sign that the airbag was changed? A dealership told me it should have been beige.

Keep in mind that the car runs a self-check on the airbags on every start and in the rare case the self test fails the air bag will be replaced. So maybe an accident isn't a sure thing.

Yup. Any shop with a PIWIS should be able to interrogate the airbag controller and determine if a deployment has occurred. It is possible that a non-factory ODB tool - like a Durametric - might be able to as well.

Answering a question from above: an airbag error displayed to the human driver is simply a catch-all for any airbag error. Diagnostic tool required to find the real reason.

And the previous owner could have swapped steering wheels or even just the air bag for cosmetics.

@ Tosha: Above is my interior at purchase brand new. It has a black airbag - which I personally think contrasts better to the interior giving the whole steering wheel a more cohesive appearance. Hope that helps allay fears of a possible airbag change out.

Thanks! It's odd that a dealership I spoke to said it should have come with the luxor beige... This alleviates my fears a bit. I will probably get it!
