Default First 911 .. An awakening

So, started a crazy car search some 18 months ago when my E39 Generation 540 just couldn't go on any longer. Had that car for 13 phenomenal years. Was all set to stick with BMW's 5 Series line, currently DD a 2016 550 M-Sport and had an allocation for a 2019 M5 Competition Pack. Then I did a mixed BMW/Porsche track day this past spring and was completely taken by how much fun the Porsche lineup is. I had to explore this further before committing to the investment in a new M5, which is inching close in price to the C4S when fully equipped.

I drove several new 991.2s: Carrera T, Carrera S, and a Turbo (came sooo close on that one). Tried to drive a 911 Targa GTS, but that got sold before I could sit in it. And there have been a few build opportunities along the way for a GTS, Targa GTS, and a couple of TurboS cars from my local collection of dealers. All were great drives. However it was beginning to seem like waiting for something in the upcoming 992s might be my smarter play. But a good friend who has a C4S, strongly suggested I give the C4S a look, before I wait another 14-18 months to grab a 992.

Located a beautiful new triple black 2018 911 C4S. While looking that one over, the PA pointed out he just received this nicely equipped mint 991.1 Carrera 4S, CPO, no major revs on the scan, never tracked, and a perfect combination of Silver and Black. So just after lunchtime we took it out onto I94 in Chicago...Oh the howl of that NA Sport Exhaust, the way it builds torque, the tightness...its was so intoxicating. It may have been an epiphany (but I couldn't tell the PA that). I hadn't really considered a CPO until that drive, and so damn glad I had the perfect PA who knew exactly when to add comments, and when to just hang on for the ride. I've had a little track time and training, though I know there are many others with much more knowledge on the handling and drive characteristics, but we had a little fun none the less.

Test drive these cars...there is an awakening to be found if your not sure. And you will know when the right one comes along. Forget the madness of trying to time a new model release, depreciation, blah blah blah..your totally missing the point.

Its in the garage now. Drove it on Friday July 6th...took it home Monday July 9th. Just finished my first detail (I'm a hobbyist) and the photos are from that.

Could not be happier with my PA, Tony Taylor at Loeber Porsche. Give him a chance if your in the Chicagoland area.

Congratulations!! I am a recent newbie as well. I have been a BMW guy for the past 7-8 yrs or so. I test drove the .2’s & like you, what I was looking for is what the .1’s delivers on. I’m plenty happy with it thus far. Enjoy in good health!

Very nicely optioned! The black LEDs are an especially unusual find that many desire. The Turbo wheels are forged unlike most other OEM wheels. The painted skirts are another nice touch. It all comes together nicely. Well done!

I have similar car lineage. I traded in an E39 540 6MT for my first 911, which was a 996. I considered an E60 M5 when it was time to replace my 996, but I was pretty underwhelmed. I specced a new 997 C4 in 2007 and followed it with a 991.2 C4 in 2016. It's really hard to buy anything else once you've driven/owned a 911. Congrats
