Default First oil change coming up dealer recs SoCa

Since I have not used a service department yet, any recs or opinions on McKenna or Irvine Porsche, I am right between both dealerships. Or perhaps I should just be brave and do it myself, lol.

In the time it would take you to drive to the dealer to drop off your car you could do it yourself....to me that is the big benefit. Just saves a lot of time. 991 oil change takes 30 mins and no aspect of it is difficult.

If you have a 2018, the first service is free.

If not DIY is easy and far cheaper.

I can give some input. I got my first oil change at Newport Porsche and it was around $350. The most insulting part was $13.50 per quart for the oil. I went by the new Irvine dealership and they have a wonderful looking dealership but the SA and tech advised me that I had to remove my PCM unit to install the trim piece on my console ($600 estimate) when it took me 10 minutes to do myself.

Hergesheimer Motorsports is in Lake Forest, an indie which I will probably be frequenting shortly. Irvine Porsche is my closest dealer to work and they've been helpful, resetting an airbag fault the tint shop set off, free while I waited 10mins, and spent $60 on a t-shirt

1) bring your own oil you bought on amazon et al. 2) nice to have a dealer service invoice and paperwork when you go to sell

If you lived closer to LA, I'd highly recommend Porsche DTLA. They have treated me (and my car) extremely well... and I'm quick to be skeptical of dealers.

Wow, $450 is the deal! Thinking I may do it myself, I can purchase all the the tools and supplies for still much less, oh and not have my car scuffed, winning.

I've Been taking my P-cars (and my Audis) to Mckenna for the past 10 years, they are solid and very reasonable. I love the fact that they have valet service (if you are a regular customer on P-cars) where they will flat bed you a loaner and flat bed your vehicle to the dealership and does the same when the work is done. No need to waste your time in traffic driving there etc.

Cost for service is the cheapest around the area. they did my 987.2 PDK fluid for under $550 which is the lowest, i got quotes ranging from $600 to close to $1000. I also got a quote to program my PSE button on the 991.1S for $188 which is very reasonable.

but on the side note: I ONLY take my car to the dealership when is ABSOLUTELY needed. meaning things that i cannot do myself, such as PDK oil change, or things that are covered under CPO and or ext warranty. for the normal maintenance, ie belts, plugs, filters, oil, brakes etc etc are all done in my garage by yours truly

I used Hergesheimer recently for my Cayman S 1 year service - oil change plus checks of various things on the car. Cost about $325. Scheduling was convenient and work was done on time. I would have done it myself but I don't yet have the tool to reset the service reminder.
