Default Off Topic Volvo Polestar Tune

Sorry to go OT here, but I have to share with you guys what Volvo offers...maybe it is old news.
My daughter is buying a Volvo S60 T5 Inscription and it comes with a factory Polestar tune for about $1,200. Word has it increases horsepower and torque by about 10%. All under warranty, etc... It is also available for cars not factory equipped. Porsche- is anyone listening?

Why do that when you create all kinds of model designations with slightly increased power for 10k jumps in each?

You are so right. How silly of me. Very funny but spot on comment.

Got my ECU back from Cobb today. Two day turn around, door to door. Couldn’t be more pleased with their service so far.

Growler Motor Labs is going to do the baseline stock dyno pulls this evening followed by runs with only the Cobb Stage 1 (all other parts stock). So, we will have another set of clean data to show what Cobb Stage 1 does on an otherwise stock 991.2 GTS.

Then tomorrow we are going to add the Soul Performance sport cats and AMS air filter and run 2 more scenarios - stock ECU settings versus Cobb Stage 1. Idea here is to really see what the sport cats will do, but I understand some on the thread won’t like that I’m also throwing the air filter in the mix as a variable. However, dyno time, labor, etc and the fact that I really want my car back means that we will have to live with that variable. In any event, I can’t imagine a scenario where anyone does Cobb or Soul cats and doesn’t add the BMC, AMS or equivalent air filter.

I will post all the results as soon as I have them. Thanks to the guys at Growler Motor Labs for putting it all together. They’ve shown a level of service and interest in my little project much greater than I would have expected from any other shop. These guys are becoming the 991.2 specialists here in the Dallas area and for good reason!

Stay ”tuned”!

jplohg: I have the exact same setup as you. I cannot thank you enough for doing this. I plan on doing my own runs with and without Vector Headers with your exact setup so I will give back to you and the community with my results as well. Please dont forget to post everything, Thanks so much!!

Looking forward to seeing this! Make sure they are sport + for all the runs

I believe I have read that the filters will show a few more hp up top, but most people will do a filter anyway so you might as well.

Sounds exciting! What fan setup will be on the dyno? Are you going to datalog the dyno pulls?

Hey thank you for getting dyno information for the forum! We're sponsoring the runs with Growler (great shop indeed) to get more data for everyone. We're looking forward to your results!

I'd guesstimate ~4whp for air filter. AMS shows pressure drop reduction of about 0.35kPa. Just some pretty rough math, 1kPa on my old 2.0L Evo was about 8whp over 240whp baseline, or about 3%. So figure about a 1% gain with AMS filter as a ballpark on a baseline of 400whp. Again, pretty rough estimates.

I have instructed them to do all runs on sport+ AND hit the overboost button on the manatino. should I have them hit the overboost button or not? or does it even matter?

Large center fan in front, two smaller fans in rear, one on each side and blowing directly into the intercooler holes. When you start talking datalog, you are way past my knowledge, but I'll ask Growler and if they can do, we'll get the info.

I've seen a couple datalogs where the ECU started pulling 3-7 degrees of timing which of course has a significant affect on torque/power. Would be good to also datalog ambient air temps, intake manifold temps, oil temps, and coolant temps to see that conditions are as even as possible.
