I would think it's up to the individual dealers but then they would be installing software and hardware on an engine that Porsche does not approve. PCNA would more than likely void that warranty and then it would be between the customer and installing dealer to come to an agreement. Just like flashing an ECU with an aftermarket tune you are assuming all responsibility. Porsche created the X51 Powerkit upgrade for the Carrera S and to our knowledge is only honoring warranty on that model.
Can you comment on this further? Will Porsche update the software then on a Base engine? Or is this all aftermarket. In other words, if someone takes this package to a Porsche dealership, will they install it?
Sounds like a fantastic deal for a Base engine at the 4 year point.

It’s a great deal if you can find a dealer to quote a six hour installation. Of the two dealers in Utah, one quoted 20 hours and the other 18. Suddenly it’s no longer a great deal.

It’s not altogether clear to me what any savings would be. In my situation (new car on order w/o PSE), if I order, I’m over 9k in parts for the right kit, then tack on the Porsche 10 hours of labor or so.
And based on the above post, sounds like it could actually end up costing more, especially where I am located.

Porsche dealer labor on my install was $2250. I had my sport cats installed at the same time. Very happy with the performance of the car overall. A friend drove it the other day and said the car pulled like a freight train.

Note, it says Carrera in the Body and Trim section.
Thanks!

Suncoast says you lose "the" warranty.. Which warranty? Parts or the vehicle's warranty?
I really don't see why this would void one's warranty. Must be some kind of legal/corporate rule IMO.

They said if trying to install on a BASE model instead of S/4S.

I'm no .2 expert. Assume the compatibility of parts you're switching out or whatever?? I'm sure the .2 posse will know more.

JK.. But! a 9A2 is a 9A2. The main components of these parts is the 55mm turbos vs the base's 49mm. Everything will bolt up. The only main thing popping into my head is the base having smaller brakes. Does it void the warranty because Porsche feels like the base models brakes cannot support the high power output?
Waiting for a reply from suncoast.

Suncoast will not have any answer. They just recite the PCNA/PAG memo.
They said Porsche doesn't suggest putting a .2 steering wheel in a .1 as well. We know how much of a concern there is there. ZERO.

Does the X51 upgrade involve any ECU reprogram? Or is it a direct bolt on upgrade like an aftermarket exhaust?
I'm curious because my authorized Porsche dealer will not allow to install the part for me unless I purchase the kit from them.
My car's warranty is about to lapse so in case there's no programming involved, I could have a capable mechanic to install the X51 kit for me.
Thanks!

The 991.2 PowerKit requires the DME to be programmed by Porsche.
Not uncommon that the installing dealership requires you to also buy their parts. Ask them to price match the Suncoast pricing.
