991.2 X51 Powerkit On Sale Again!

Answering belatedly, the X51 PowerKit for the 991.1 S is prohibitively expensive because those kit parts are expensive and installation requires engine removal as well as disassembly and reassembly. And the old engine parts may be hard to sell at a decent price. I'm told you should figure $25k, all in. While the 991.1 X51 does add 17.5% HP, it adds zero to the 325 ft-lbs torque of the S engine. So acceleration won't be noticed much at legal speeds, unless pulling on a steep grade.

Soooo, are these the turbos of the GTS? i would suggest that of course they will work on a base car with a tune.

Looking for GTS turbos for my Carrera T.

1. Base
2. S
3. Powerkit S / GTS.
But also correct, Porsche will not install/warranty the powerkit on a base or T. Too bad really, as that would be the kill combo.

So the current Suncoast pricing for the powerkit is $6,400, listed as a 16% discount. (plus sport exhaust if needed plus axle cooling if needed).
What was the original "sale price" at suncoast last year?

Just did a ”DIY X51” -upgrade for my 2017 base 991.2 Carrera and it’s a completely different machine now. So I added a pair of new GTS turbos, Kline exhaust with 200 cell cats and Cobb tune with Protune made by ByDesign. Also added brakes from Turbo, Sportdesign kit, Techart lowering springs and Akrapovic rear diffuser. Turned out to be very nice after finally fitting some HRE 21” wheels 😎.

I was at my local dealer three (3) weeks ago and the shop manager told me that he've been told by factory people that the X51 could be installed without a problem on a Base 991.2. I asked him to check the information and we came back to me, he told me that the factory had told him that it could be installed but that I would also need to change pistons and cylinder heads..... strange. This didn't make any sense to me so I decided not to go ahead with the install.
Now that I read that you have installed bigger turbos with good results, I'm going to start exploring that route.

Considering that they won't allow the X50 to be installed on a car without adding the additional "axle cooling" if it doesn't already have it, not at all hard to imagine they would just say no to X51 with base brakes.

Burning Brakes
Honestly, this shop doesn't seem to have a clue... Obviously physically installing the powerkit on a base isn't the issue. The turbos will bolt right up. The question is whether Porsche would provide a software load for the ECU on a base car and if they would officially support it. And it's pretty widely accepted that the actual engine blocks on all three cars are identical, making the pistons and cylinder head comment make the dealership seem pretty ignorant.

The brakes, of course, would be another matter at the track.

Very nice!
I was not aware the Turbo brakes are a bolt-on option for a 991.2. Please tell us more about that...
