I will be adding the aftermarket X51 Power Kit option on my 991.2 C2S at a Porsche dealer, for full factory warranty coverage. And if you know anything about Porsche's warranty coverage history, you know they often cover engine design/production problems well beyond the original warranty, for original buyers of those Porsches.

This X51 Power Kit includes bigger and more exotic low - inertia GTS turbos, special rear brake ducts, PCV valves, fancy carbon-fiber cover over the engine engine lid with "X51 Power Kit" script, and a software revision for the PCM. Yes, the Hp increases only 30 Hp or 7%. But most people will not feel that at speeds under 120 mph. What they will feel different is the 10% increase in torque from 368 to 405 ft-lbs, from 2150 through 5000 rpm. This is HUGE in drive-abilty on the street. Compare it to the more peaky 991.1 GT3 torque of 339 ft-lbs and the 991.2 GT3 torque of 346 ft-lbs. The flat 405 ft-lb torque curve of the X51 3.0 TT is HUGE!

405 ft-lbs of flat-curve torque plus an extra 10% with the SC boost button, for 20 seconds! And you can press that boost button as often as you like! That is HUGE, except on long straights like at LeMans and the Nordschleife, where higher Hp machines like modern GT3s will excel. A And of course the GT3's have the aero kits and lighter weight for quicker handling. But back to this topic...

This is why the "lowly" 991.2 S has been timed at 3.1 sec 0-60, right there even with the recent GT3s, and 11.4 sec in the 1/4 mile, even without the X51.
As you can imagine, thd extra 7% Hp and 10% torque of the X51 Power Kit is nothing faster. And don't forget that SC boost button on the steering wheel for an extra 10% extra boost for 20 seconds. Press it early and often, if you like. With the X51 Power Kit, just imagine those 0-60 times less than 3.1 seconds, and 1/4 mile times better than 11.4 seconds on OEM tires...

Got it?? 😀
In Sport +, the sport response button on my GTS doesn't give me the sensation of 10% extra torque/boost. IMO the sport response button is an instant Sport + mode. I could be wrong though.

Either way I agree with everything else you said. Can't wait to tune out these turbos.

It appears the factory X51 option does include the SC (Sport Chrono) and PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust) options. Y'all probably knew that but JIC..

BTW, Porsche says the S PDK is good for 3.7 seconds 0-60 mph, and 3.4 seconds for the GTS. So if the magazines tested 3.1 seconds for the S 0-60, what time do y'all expect for an S with the X51 kit?

The GTS is heavier with the wide body.

Also depends on if launch control was used or not. Boost button does seem to make a difference in launch control as well

I remember reading the s and gts have different pistons despite the same displacement
This is not true. The base, s, and gts all have same engine internals.... it's just turbos and tune that are different.

If you believe this, just get a base 991.2, install the X51, and you will have a GTS beater. Right?

Yes, well at least in a straight line. GTS or Carrera T with rear wheel steering, PASM, ect will still out handle.

**************** is coming out with a kit that has bigger turbos than the GTS models.

In the Car and Driver tests, the S was heavier than the GTS--3363 vs 3335 lbs. Must have had more options on it.
The additional power of the GTS was more apparent at higher speeds. It got to 150 1.1 seconds quicker than the S.

I was being facetious. These are not Toyotas or Nissans. Most 991.2 Porsche owners want to preserve their warranty, future CPO capability, and resale value.

That sounds like a great idea. Take a $100k car and slap on some turbos from some random and heretofore unknown dude with a website. Yeah, that will end well.

If if you want more power get the power kit from suncoast, or if want to tune it do yourself and your car a favor and go to a respected and well established tunner. There are a few: COBB, bydesign, and BGB Motorsports, among others.

Seriously man chill out. Btw, I bought a gts. Figure if I get bored with power I'll do a cobb tune then a turbo upgrade setup down the road when it has been proven.

Screw the warranty and buy an aftermarket tune for a fraction of the money and a lot more power/torque.

You surprise me after seeming to talk the other way. I was beginning to wonder if you were trolling here. But i take that thought back. Congrats on making a great choice! Have you watched the YouTube video in the 991.2 GTS of that hot lap on the Nordschleife? It left a strong impression on me. And the magazine test have the GTS 0-60 times right there with the 991.1 and 991.2 GT3s. The S has been clocked at 11.4 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Not sure what the GTS will do, but it has to be fast! Enjoy.
