Default Why so few sport chronos in manual trans cars?

I’m scanning the Porsche used car locator a few times a day looking for a 2013-2015 S with a 7 speed manual. I’m surprised at how few have the sport chrono option. From all the threads I’ve read on the topic, it’s worthwhile even with a manual trans. Why do so many original buyers pass it up?

It is a pride thing. The rev matching technology is not welcomed in the church of manual transmissions....

I have a manual transmission and love the Sport Chrono option.

I love the rev matching. Worth the price of admission to me.

Lol. I have no church. Rev matching is awesome.

I have two Porsches, both with SC and MT. Love them. Ordered. Never selling them which is why you wont see them on the market.

No church here. I'm just cheap and can't see any reason to spend $2K+ for nothing but rev matching.

For me, SC would have been more cost for something I hated (rev matching).

i don't have it either. one of the joys of a manual is that you choose how the engine behaves, not a computer.

each to their own, as ever.

Is the rev matching really that bad, intrusive? Just curious as I have 997.2 S with PDK and considering going back to a manual, possibly a 991.

Launch control is one of the key benefits of SC and it only works with PDK. Yet SC with a manual costs just as much. Why bother?

Wow. There is a lot more going on than just that. Let me count the ways and I am sure I am missing some.

1. Rev matching
2. Improved throttle mapping
3. Dynamic engine mounts
4. relaxes the point at which PSM engages
5. G-force meter
6. Clock
7. Laptime stopwatch
8. Sport screen on PCM with lap comparisons
9. ability to download car/engine data to excel for analysis or pairing with video
10. Upshift indicator

And probably about 10 others that I forgot about.

turn off PSM and rev matching goes away in all modes and you can control everything......unless you like PSM which is a computer controlling how the car behaves. LMAO. sorry.....couldn't resist.

No. It is awesome and is perfect EVERY time. It's not intrusive at all. It feels totally natural after the first 10 downshifts.

OK, so SC/manual provides some good stuff, rev matching (auto-blip), better throttle mapping (sprint booster) and higher PSM thresholds (less nannies). 997.2 owner so I'm not familiar with dynamic engine mounts, but the first three would be worth it to me.
