OBD 'plug in' on a 991 to get a small insurance discount. Would you do it?

I'm not a fan of it, but to save 5-10%+, I caved. I just signed up for it (on my previous cars) during the winter when I rarely drove them and drove on my best behavior one every week or two, and it gave them their snapshot and I got my 10%. It was also the first time in my life that I got passed by multiple semis on the highway so maybe bring a paper bag or ski mask....

Sorry, I'm not going to help with any big brother recording my driving habits.
Want cheaper better insurance, shop for one, don't like what your being charged by current insurance, find a better carrier then threaten your current one to match or give the better rate if not leave. My insurance does ask me how many miles I plan to drive in the year, I tell them then my average then on my next year for renewal they get a readout I believe on my current new mileage, they check the differences, either I drive less or more than I say then cost differs depending on my previous years driving habit. I have AAA. But it's different for me as I daily drive mine but work is only 8-10 mins away, most mileage comes from weekend driving.

In the event of a serious accident, some of you "What, me worry?" people are going to be in for a big surprise.

Insurance is a scam, every aspect of it and every type (Travel, Life, Auto, Home). You're a poisonous snake or anthrax to them when it's time to collect.
Shop around, be aggressive and negotiate if you want cheaper insurance. How do you know they won't share your information with other companies or some database? Oh, OP took his sweet 911 to redline.. Cha-ching! Honestly, why did you buy a 911? Was it because you plan on staying under 3k RPM and under 65mph?
It's unbelievable how your rate gets affected because a family member had a ticket/accident in their own car on their own policy. They'll find any reason to gouge you and this is one of them.

I have a Liberty Mutual policy and used their dongle on my pickup. I could log in and see what it recorded. Basically, I had to accelerate and decelerate as slowly as possible in order to not get "excessive acceleration/deceleration" alerts. I did it over the winter and think I saved around 10-15% off that one vehicle. The savings don't apply to other vehicles on your policy. I think it would be tough to drive a 911 that way for 3 months. And you can't remove it for a day or two and then put it back in either. It has to stay in.

I had the stupid report your mileage thing with state farm, it was super irritating and of course they promised further rate cuts if I got their dongle.
I cancelled the report your mileage, but my rates were way too high without the discount so I switched to USAA and now I pay even less than the discounted rates at state farm.

No. Was offered as a way to get a discount but I suspect when enough people choose these, they will make it mandatory. I will not help them.

I run an independent insurance agency for a living and this tracking program is what is coming with all companies. We have a carrier who is about to release their program and it tracks your phone instead of the device in the vehicle.
I love driving and and am not personally a fan but this is about to be the standard just like electric vehicles.
We we have been offering the telematics discount for 2 years and almost everyone earns some sort of discount. I’ve only ever had 1 person get charged more. I would not fret over it too much with any company. Like what someone else said. There are tons of ways to get this data so it will eventually get there regardless of if it’s a device plugged into the car or not.
Whats going to be disappointing is when they start tracking all the time and it’s not a trial period. Which by the way is already happening with some carriers.
