How long before hook-up
#16
what if one is going away for a month or so? should one plug the car to the charger for the month one is away or remember to charge up the car once one is back? I'm not sure how safe it is having something plugged in and unsupervised for over a month.

I would use a charger if the car is going to sit for a month. I used to store my Boxster during the winters in NH in a rented garage. Used a charger for about five months. As long as the power supply is reliable, there should be no issues.

Thanks. do you put the main charge controller box in the car or wire it out and set it on the floor out of the car?

However, I would appreciate a knowledgeable statement from an informed, non-insulting person who can tell me how long the battery in my 991 can live without a maintenance charge.
Throwing the charger on your car CAN'T hurt. Easy plug into the footwell and out the bottom of the door to an outlet or via an extension cord. Will surely prolong the life of your battery. If it consistently sits weeks at a time between driving, use the charger.

Wire it out. Don't want to risk it being in the car.

Outside on the floor on a rubber mat. I use the socket down in the passenger foot well to plug it in and leave the passenger side window slightly open to run the wire. Select mode and then plug it into the wall socket. Also leave the frunk open just in case.

My dealer told me to use trickle charger if car left for more than 6-8 weeks. Car is always fine after 4-5 weeks. I've never used it
