Default Down Side to car that has sat for almost year

I had found a new car and would have gotten it but it was already sold by the time I called ( 991.2 with about 130 miles ) SA said warranty started on Aug of 17 , so looks like it had sat for almost a year, albeit in a parking garage I think. Too late now but for future reference are there down sides to getting a new car that has sat for 9 months? I know something can happen to the tires if the car stays in one place too long. I also know in general cars do better if they are driven regularly. Anything else? Tks

9 months and 130 miles. No problem. Fresh gas. Check tire pressures, and go.

Possible flat spots in tires, but might clear up with a few miles.

Rusty rotors if stored in high humidity

You have rust every time after a wash before driving. One drive and it's gone.

^^ this. don't worry ...

Cars sit a while many times. Especially with unique builds that don't appeal to everyone.

Yep, I wouldn't be too worried. I had a leaky valve stem on one of my rear tires over the winter storage season - didn't notice it for what could have been several months as it was on the far side of the car, away from our other vehicles. I tightened the valve stem, filled it up, and everything seems fine. No flat spotting.

If you're really concerned maybe have them do a fresh oil change for peace of mind.

Agreed, flash rust will wear off. Prolonged rust may not. Ask a Ford dealer about "lot rot" on F250. I let my f250 sit outside for a couple of months. I had to replace the rotors because they didn't clean up.

Easy enough to look for if you know about it.

Also, check for a flat battery. If it really sat the whole time the battery would have been dead. They never really come back from being dead. They won't hold a charge like when they were new.

I know I wouldn't leave gas untreated for a year. Ethanol blended fuels have a poor shelf life.

In my youth I bought a 1968 Ford coupe that had sat for 15 years. It only had about 40k miles on it. New gas brake fluid, and a battery was all it needed. That 302 was a great motor. I shudder now to think that I drove it 150 miles home on the ancient tires and no rear brakes. The rear brake lines had rusted out.

true, mine got to the dealer 12/20/16, sat in Colorado for 7 months, before being purchased by my West Coast Dealer, I took it home 8/21/17, It sat a while as it was a $116k optioned C2 in Miami Blue, needed the right buyer, which was me as it checked every box for me, well except smoking package, what were they thinking. Might have gone black exhaust tips on the PSE also. I think the down side to sitting on a lot a long time is miles and potential for cosmetic damage as it’s moved around and lots of traffic in and around the car, potential for scuffs etc. It had 118 miles on the clock when I got it, and some scuffs on door sill and a seat but all taken. No issues with mine, knock on wood, lol. I did get about $8k off and they tinted my windows for free, I got over the miles, and small scuff.

there are some deals out there, edit, but do check to see when the warranty was punched, my “in service” date was the day I took delivery, but I have read some dealers punch the cars early.

I bet in 9 months it got moved around on the lot a few times so I would not have any reservations buying.

Since the warranty was punched early were they CPO'ing the car as well?

Check for acid rain pits in paint. Best to look at it under lights. I've never seen a car that's been on a lot that long that doesn't have them.

I would do a brake flush, change the oil & filter and drive like you stole it.
