991.1 bought at auction - any concerns?
Looking at 2015 991.1 at P dealer. CARFAX report on the car says that the dealer bought it at auction - as CARFAX says "Millions of used vehicles are bought and sold at auction every year." How does a car like this end up at auction? Any concerns; for example, car not well maintained? BTW dealer selling car as CPO. Thanks in advance for any insights.

Auctions are done all the time - returned lease cars, excess inventory, they are not necessarily troublesome cars. If its at a Porsche dealer and they are making it a CPO car you should be fine.

I wouldn't worry about it, especially if they CPO'd it. Buying at auction doesn't indicate anything bad. Unless a dealer is only taking cars in trade that appreciate, then used cars on the lot have a pretty short shelf life. If it hasn't been sold in 60-90 days, it is likely headed to the auction.

Auction not a deal killer but CPO is equally meaningless.

The off-brand dealer can't sell it (or doesn't want to put it on the lot; or doesn't want to deal with it/go to the trouble) and sends it off for auction. No biggie.

Lot more used cars sold at auction than people realize. zero worries.
