Default Porsche Entry and Drive - Can you add it after?

I didn't order Porsche entry and Drive when i ordered my turbo and what a mistake that was! Putting in that big key is annoying as hell and the fact that the door doesn't open when Im close drives me nuts (Standard features on my 200 dollar a month jeep cherokee!)

Can this option be added after the fact by the dealer? Is it something I can buy and do it myself?

Looks like you're out of luck. I have never seen it done before. And if it were to be attempted, it's pretty extensive and would be very, very costly.

New ignition, door handles, sensors, wiring, and programming. Easily a $5K + project that's "if" it's even possible.

Learn to love the key fob ...

It is a pain but on the bright side you don't have to take the key out of your pocket when you wash the car. First few times I locked and unlocked the car and popped the frunk. I do agree it should be standard.

After various videos on YouTube showing keyless cars to be stolen while drink your coffee by using a signal repeater I will never buy again keyless car.

I've had keyless on my last 6 or 7 vehicles now. I was actually really happy to go back to the "old way" - plus, it's slightly harder to steal.

Since I also want to do this, I’m giving this thread a bump.

Mine is a 991.2, in case it makes any difference.

People who get their keyless cars stolen, almost deserve it. If you park it outside, double-clicking the lock button will disable the key from emitting it’s signal. In any case, your second key should always be disabled this way (it also saves the battery).

Anything is possible, but it would not be worth it.

The is a sensor in the bumper to allow entry with the he swipe of your hand. This would require a new bumper wiring harness.

Controlling your windows and door locks with the Car Connect app on your phone requires that your car be equipped with Porsche Entry and Drive. That would be about the only reason I would want a fob.

As Porsche no longer provides traditional keys how do you unlock the exterior doors without this feature?
