991.1 C4S Axle Popping Out
Rennlist Braintrust,
Recently when the car was on the lift, we noticed some fluids around the front differential. We removed the cover to find quite a bit of differential fluid inside the cover, and the culprit seems to be the front left axle which has popped out ever so slightly (about half a cm or so), due to which the differential was no longer sealed and was slowly losing fluid. Thought it was some rare issue that might've happened due to a pothole or a highway bump or something, popped the axle back in, topped up fluid, and drove around for a brief period to see if the axle now stays in. Unfortunately it does not. Upon inspection it was again popped out by a similar amount. Car is now back at the dealership to hopefully get diagnosed and fixed under CPO. Quite a bummer.
I googled around to see if anybody had similar issues, couldn't find anything similar with a 991 C4S (2014, about 29k miles). I'm thinking either the o-ring retainer at the end of the axle is broken or not working somehow, or worse, something bad is happening w the front differential. Seems to me car is too new for such a failure. Wondering if anybody had any similar experiences, any thoughts are welcome.

Perhaps it was a result of the turn depicted in your avatar pic.

1/2-shafts don’t just ‘pop-out’ of differentials. There’s at least one thing broken inside the differential.
We don’t get exploded diagrams of the ‘big pieces’ anymore (i.e. #5 below), so it’s harder to opion over the ‘net, but if it’s like every other differential then - if I parsed your post correctly - the bolt that secures output stub shaft is broken.
